And before you tell me ryze w should always stop lee / riven in their tracks, keep in mind that lee q second proc lasts longer than snare and that riven can e+q to close the gap of ryze's w range.

Also, ryze does pretty well into riven pre-six.

Oh actually forgot about cloth 5.

That's the second decent start on ryze, and is probably the only other one (other than maybe boots in very rare situations).

Cloth 5 works much better on ryze vs champions like renekton and riven that get in your face because as ryze you shouldn't be prolonging trades where you're taking huge amounts damage.

Dorans works really well in trades that people want to take. As ryze, the only trades you ever should be taking are ones you can win (vs teemo/gnar/etc) or vs Renetkon/Riven/etc (in which they're jumping on you, so you back, heal up via the pots, and go back to poking them).

Hmm honestly I think Ryze can beat Lee easy if he lets him Q him, then lets him proc it. Then w's, gets out of aa range, and smash face into keyboard. Repeat as the lee is retreating.

But doesn't hurt to start cloth 5.

Edit: Wait the last time I played Lee into Ryze I think i was able to get AAs after the snare due to the slow from e, and Ryze actually ends up losing the trades.

You have the right of how lee vs ryze goes in your edit.

Also add built in sustain/shield with w to make trades consistently favorable + low cd q with more levels

Lee can force trades, back off, heal up while waiting for cd, rinse repeat.

Ryze still beats lee levels 1-4 usually.

But levels 5-9 lee sin OBLITERATES ryze even if he falls a bit behind.

Well, you'd think that with one of the lowest ARs of ADCs she'd be ridiculously easy to out-poke. I guess her W and Q provide enough early-level damage if you can land them. I've felt that if you can't hit only the ADC/Sup/both with both parts of the Q her damage isn't really that good, though.

I go Q->E->Q->W on Sivir. If the enemy laner relies on a skill early game for damage, then you'll just turn that into mana and shove your 100-damage boomerang into their face.

EDIT: This build also pretty much counters Leona's level 2 spike if you hit level 2 first... as long as she doesn't hit the support.

Yeah, that's pretty much the idea with it. Very much a reactive spell.

If you find yourself liking the reactive abilities, try morgana next time she's free, morgana's E is something very similar but does more "utility" of sorts.

Malzahar is my favourite mid right now. Ahri is a little more fun to play, but malz is so effective. The wave is still being pushed by my e while I'm already walking bot to straight up murder their peeps.

I love it because it's great CC for locking down that one assassin or ADC (which is awesome in this meta). He has everything I like and he builds super resilient most of the time. I love him.

Spoiler: Match History

#1- Tristana. Riot's servers go to shit, I lag and get killed lvl 1, completely DC and have to restart and apparently died again somehow. We also get a troll who builds AP Sion mid and feeds 0/7/0 in lane.

#2- Jarvan IV. My team has no plat players, other team has 2? Bot lane dies 11 times in lane (Braum/Trist).

#3- Jinx. We get a Ryze top who goes 0/11 in lane against a Jayce. We win bot lane, we shut down every Fid gank, but who cares when 1 Jayce Q can 100-0 you?

#4- Lux. Buy more wards as a mid laner than the rest of my team. Our Lee dies 5 times before 10 minutes, while the enemy Khazix camps my lane so I cannot farm at all. Lee never comes mid. Oh look, another game with plats.

#5- Hecarim. An actual win! Look, no fucking Plats!

#6- Volibear. Didn't know I was playing ranked. Did shit because I have literally never played Volibear before and thought we were dicking around in normals with my roommate.

#7- Rammus. Only reason we won was because the enemy Caitlyn dc'd for the first 5 minutes.

#8- Trundle. Bot lane feeds 12 kills in laning phase to the enemy Lucian then go AFK. Yeah. Somehow I had silvers on my team.

#9- Rumble. Plat on enemy team/Gold 1 in series. I'm the highest ranked person on my team (Gold 5). Oh, Riot serves blow up and I DC for the first 5 minutes so Ryze has permanent level advantage? SWEET!

#10- Kha'Zix. Plat on enemy team. Our duo bot lane DCs for the first 5 minutes, giving enemy Lucian freefarm. When they do show up, the plat Thresh starts killing them on cooldown.

So, I'm 3-8 in ranked in my past 10 games, and two of the games I won weren't even fun because we won on DCs and bullshit. The 7 games I've lost... 4 of them were with DCs/AFKs, and the other three featured a massive feeder (as in, 11 deaths, not just a handful). And most if not all of the losses featured really uneven, skewed teams with the enemy team getting way higher ranked players.

It's just so fucking futile. 10 games is a pretty large sample to get repeatedly shit on over and over by DCs/AFKs/trolls. I didn't play perfect in a lot of those games, sure, but they were all very winnable with even halfway decent teammates, or even teams.

Playing Ranked 5s is about the only fun I get out of this game anymore.
