Also, my brother and I are headed to GP Nashville this next weekend for the Team Sealed GP and are still looking for a third if anyone is interested/available.

I sent you his info.

Guys, do we think treasure cruise is better than brainstorm? I would have said that's crazy talk, but now I'm not so sure.

Brainstorm is really only great if you have a shuffle. Treasure Cruise only requires you to fill your graveyard. Since the time when you want to draw cards is right after you've played a bunch, you should have some cards to delve.
One time, back in 'nam, Sudo was set upon by an entire squadron of charlies. He challenged them all to a game of Pictionary, which he won resoundingly. The charlies were forced to not only surrender the skirmish, but also their world-famous chili recipe, which Sudo sold to Texas for a hefty profit. Sudo is a master of diplomacy.

Treasure Cruise SHOULD go in every brainstorm deck that isn't ANT/related (dear god, flipping a cruise to ad naus...). The same tools make them both good (fetch lands). I think Brainstorm has the edge due to it begin castable on turn one, but that still doesn't take away from Treasure Cruise's sheer CA.

Caleb Durward built storm without Ad Naseum. He found with cruise and the catrip engine he didn't even need the ad nauseum effect.

Treasure cruise is only good with fetches too though, just for a different reason.

The cards to pretty different things. Brainstorm is actually usable on turn 2. I think treasure cruise is probably worse? not confident though which is really telling about just how busted treasure cruise is.

I suppose it depends on the situation. Brainstorm is a lot better early, but I feel like with Ponder and Serum Visions, you need the early draw Brainstorm offers less than the pure CA Treasure Cruise grants.

Yeah this was my thought process too.

The fact that we even feel like this is a "in the same ballpark" situation is crazy to me.

It's nice to know that wizards haven't managed to stamp out all broken cards yet and there's still some chance that truly nutty stuff gets through the net.

Nutty is awesome. I love drafting Khans, and current Standard looks like a ton of fun. Current Modern is shitty, which makes me sad, but if a month or two of my deck not being the best in the format is what I have to put up with for a good draft format, I'll take it (as long as it's not permanent)

You could easily make your deck have play against that deck. Start maindecking 4 Thalia and 4 eidelon of rhetoric or something.

Nutty=/=degenerate. Treasure Cruise is nutty, but it's brokenness is kinda quiet vs, say Tolarian Academy, which fucking anyone with even a quarter of a brain could see was just a bad idea. I'd say ALA-ZEN was a standard format awash in brokenness that ended up being fun.

But it's Pod. 1 Eidolon, 1 maindeck Thrun, 2 Lingering Souls out of the board is about the extent of my changes at the moment. What else should I change up?

Add Spirit of the Labyrinths, and Fiendslayer Paladins and Thalias.

After that, you might want to cut some of the black cards to help the manabase.

Since your curve is lower, you can probably cut pod and some lands. Aether Vial would be pretty sweet to get around the countermagic, too.

You know, maybe even some RIPs in the side now that you aren't really using the grave as much.
