I know pretty much nothing about this sites meta or even how to play the game right. I like the site, though it is a bit hard core. I'm still trying to improve my game when not playing. I have no idea what kind of player I am going to turn into. I just hope I don't get banned before I even find my playstyle. :?

Yes, I can see that.
I really need to learn to slow down and really think things through
. In a site like this where IIOA is a big deal not to do, I can definitely see why people have a problem with me. I have found that on this site that most the time its not best to skip steps of logic, but rather
slow down to actually see what one observes so that accurate and concrete conclusions can be made
. It is a matter of taking what you know for sure and being able to peg scum this way or catch town to make a mistake that can get them killed. I believe this is the reason I was lynched; not because I posted too much, not because it was best for town, not because its best for mafia, but because I made fundamental mistakes that cannot be ignored. In short, my weak play is what got me lynched day 1.
I will learn from this experience and move forward.
I'm glad you let me play.

IDK, I just can't see town motivation in CDBs push to lynch me. It seems like his whole premise that my claim was not true was based on a huge assumption that every flavor character has to be a character in the show. I feel it is that because of the roles he has seen in the game is the reason he feels like my claim being BS is a good argument. The weird part is that there was enough people who agreed with him. Now I don't know if it was sorta half WIFOM accusations or not, but that is what it looks like from my perspective.

I believe there are few reasons to lie as Town, so if HI is Town, I can't see her gambit being town motivated. I mean I can understand that she did it for my lynch and that is mostly all I see the reason for it. She was sure that lynching me was the correct move. I believe Town gambits CAN be beneficial to bring clarity on someones alignment or role, BUT if you guess wrong, or something goes wrong with the plan, it can really backfire. So if she is Town and he gets himself lynched then they basically share some responsibility for one Town lynch and Pretty much bears the full responsibility for her own if her gambit is a focal point for their own lynch.

I feel the less chaos and complexity there is for town to sort through, especially in a setup that is closed like this, the easier it is for Town to lynch the right people. It could just be my opinion on how to play that playing a transparent game as town is what makes it easier for Town to sort through all the roles that are possible in a game like this and I very well could be wrong about this. Perhaps I am just not at the experience level yet to try a Town gambit like the one HI did. It is a very risky strategy and must be handled with extreme care so it can serve its purpose. The reason I feel a transparent, honest playstyle as Town is a good idea is because if you do do a gambit like that and it doesn't pay off, you are in a bad way with your credibility. That's a reason its risky IMO. Reading on the wiki on who you want to investigate as a cop and the answer being who you think is the strongest player in so many words, not who is Null, not who you think is suspicious to get a confirm, it was clear that you want to give as much credibility to that strong player as town, or get a confirmed scum result on that strong player, who, iirc about the theory, that a strong player will more often than not on average play further into the game, gives much reason for that person to be credible. HI has now taken away that credibility from themselves, possibly caused a cop in the game to investigate her for FoS that the cop may have on her and possible opened up the possibility for lynch on her. I can however see her play as town be valid if she is a weakened town role like the one similar to the claims we have seen in the game.

Those are some of my thoughts on those two who were pushing for my lynch.

I still think that CDB is totes scum. He said nothing pretty much about why if I'm town I should still be lynch and his sole focus was because he thought my claim was BS and I'm just not buying that. If there is something I am missing, please point it out to me...

How does that work with the oracle since Per already knows what all the roles are? I thought of this when I say sinsuns post about saying that Scum is forced to claim VT.

Ah, Ok that makes more sense. I was thinking that the Oracle had a predetermined set of questions they could ask. Hard to imagine (now) that they would ask anything else besides what the roles in the game are. I guess if I was oracle and could ask any question I would have asked "who are the scum team?" which would basically allow me to ask any other question I wanted to help town. I could even then suicide and once town saw my role they would know I was telling the truth. *shrug*

Well then that makes even more sense. I'd say almost all the roles that were in this game I had never even herd of before playing in this game. So I take it I couldn't ask who was teamed then?

Funny story, I was in a game were I drew the craziest role I had ever seen. It was a 3p unkillable role. I also had a really non-traditional win can as well but that's not the point. the point is I claimed that I was a tree stump that got a pre-game alignment investigation on someone and I said a random person was scum and they got lynched because of it. I would have never have known the treestump thing was a thing unless Kling claimed it. That game is over now so that is why I can talk about it. It was off site.

Can you explain how it works then? I'm not familiar with "safe claims" in games. In the games I usually play scum can pretty much claim whatever they want.

In post 96, MonkeyMan576 wrote:In can work in different ways, but in this game, the scum have their normal roles, but they are given one "safe claim", a claim that would normally be considered town, which is Benjamin Sisko. I could have given every scum a safe claim, but I thought that would be overpowered, so instead I gave scum one claim that would be hard to refute, the captain of the station. Some games give scum a power as well as a role, but since there is an Oracle in the game, giving out roles doesn't really help that much, and even then, there would be nothing to stop scum from using their claims however they wanted, i.e. one player using a claim that wasn't intended for them. So because of that, there is no way that an Oracle or Cop's results could be influenced by the claims, the Oracle or Cop just gets the actual roles/alignments.

Nero Cain is obviously going to claim Benjamin Sisko, Vanilla Townie. Pretty much the only way town will have to refute this is if dave's theif role targets Nero Cain, thus getting the tracker role to steal. But dave hasn't been that diligent in using his power, in fact he hasn't actually stolen anything yet. So who knows if he will actually submit his night action. Either way it will be an entertaining Day 9.

If it was me and I knew the theme well, I would def be raising an eyebrow or two with a VT claim as the captain of the ship. Ofc it doesn't even look like people are considering the theme like they were when I was playing. CDB had a lot to do with that. I still don't get how its so hard to understand that creator=BP

@MM, I might think having set questions that the oracle can choose from might be an alternative. This way you could balance the game knowing what the possible questions the oracle can ask. Is it done this way ever? BTW I agree with you that this game was pretty well balanced. Your argument that this game is going to the last like 3 people is evidence of that.
