Is that to me? All I'm saying is that these divisions guarantee that someone who won a League 1 division last year won't make the playoffs. Typically, it's more fun if divisions are balanced and the best thing we have to measure strength is last year's finish (although obviously there are variables). I mean, to be honest last year was fun knowing that I had to top Rob and IS (both top five teams who were in my division) to get there so being able to go on a huge run and end up in the Super Bowl was huge. But a balanced league is a fair league and that's more what we usually go for here.KMD is the coolest dude who ever lost a bet to me - vonflare-

Traditionally the league has valued some semblance of consistency in the divisions over concerns about "fairness" that are difficult to predict anyway. I don't care one way or the other, but if you're going to do it totally based on last year's finish, you should probably do it based on this: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... edit#gid=0
which leads to
Spoiler: Sorting by last year.-

That's actually pretty close to what I had lol. And I have absolutely no issue with doing that.
By consistency, do you mean keeping it similar to last year? Because that looks more like:
Kmd
Rob
IS
Locke
Tally
T Bone
Panzer
Agar
Hascow
Zoraster
Nero
Flameaxe
Plugging in L2 to Tally's division and Flameaxe (L3 champ) to yours. But I still feel like this leaves last year's loaded division pretty loaded considering it's unchanged.KMD is the coolest dude who ever lost a bet to me - vonflare-

Should probably go based on last years results for division setups in all leagues. Not sure if my league is setup right or not with that in mindWhen I joined this site, I was a software tester for mobile business applications and the song PokerFace was not yet written by Lady Gaga

Traditionally we kept the "Adventurers" division together (me, Tally, IS, plus a recent champ), and put all the newcomers in division 3 (with the rest of the vets in division 2). With me finally dropping to L2, last year's league 1 was roughly geographical, and divisions 2 and 3 were random.
I was actually thinking this year we might try doing divisions by draft position (1-4, 5-8, 9-12). Anyone totally opposed to that? Otherwise I'll probably stick with random for L2 and L3 and let L1 decide how they want to do things.
Jahudo, when divisions are decided I will send you the divisional schedule (which I have in a spreadsheet somewhere). It's kind of a pain to edit manually, sorry in advance.-

Later in the day is better for me draftwise L1, that's where my vote goes.-

So are we changing waivers to that other system (what was it called?)?-

Hmm. Well if we did it the traditional way, hascow is the only former L1 champ who is in L1 this year and could be placed with Tally and IS. If you go to L2 champs, Panzer won it last year, but if you want to keep all four of the players who moved up together, it would be me from the year before. The "rest of the vets" group would be Locke, Zoraster, Nero, and Rob. Or if Panzer were placed in with the "Adventurers" division, the "newcomers" division would be short one and maybe Rob (L3 champ in 2013) would occupy that spot?
So we either have:
Tally, IS, Hascow, Kmd
Panzer, Agar, Flameaxe, TBone
Zoraster, Nero, Locke, Rob
Or:
Tally, IS, Hascow, Panzer
Rob, Agar, Flameaxe, TBone
Zoraster, Nero, Locke, Kmd
If you want to promote rivalries, I feel like the second option has an "other vet" group that played in L2 a lot and really represents the group who worked their way into L1 in the last 2-3 years. The "newcomers" division has done the same in the last 1-2 years with Rob, Flameaxe, and TBone coming all the way up fromL3. Then there are the four who have played every year since at least 2007. I mean, Locke has been in L1 for a while and Panzer has been back and forth so you could maybe even switch the two of them. I think I've played in the same league as Panzer more than Locke anyway, so rivalry wise, that might be better.
I dunno. Just a few ideas. I'm really cool with whatever people decide. It's just fun to play around with ideas.KMD is the coolest dude who ever lost a bet to me - vonflare-

I kind of like the draft order idea for divisions... mainly because no-one can be blamed for any resulting imbalance! I agree it is difficult to predict how strong a group of players will be from one year to the next.
Re draft times... already it is impossible to suit everyone who has let me know a preference, unfortunately. I'm currently looking at 5.00pm US Central time on Sunday 6th Sept. Which is I think 11.00pm UK time. PM me if you wish to register a complaint about this.-

Yeah, I really don't mind how the divisions fall. It's fun to play people you've had good matchups with before but I don't care whether my division is full of previous winners or players with no experience. You should have to beat good teams at some point anyway, and there's enough randomness involved that I think it's a fairly pointless exercise trying to determine a 'fair' divisional alignment in advance, unless you know for sure that certain teams are going to check out after Week 3, in which case those teams shouldn't be playing anyway. If ya smell what The Locke is cookin'!

Drat. Basically, whenever I schedule the draft it is going to be a bad time for at least 2 people who've PMed me.
So can I ask that if you were in League 1last yearand the draft was badly timed for you and you were forced to autodraft, can you please remind me via PM so I can prioritise your availability this year? That would be fairest, right?
