Yeah, I had to call it a night last night because this section stressed me out too much. Thinking I just need to let it kill all the raiders, and then I'll kill it.

"no, I think people will enjoy having to drop everything in their inventory on the ground and have a scavenger hunt to find all the tiny bullshit in the meaningless debris that is scattered around this entire game"

jesus...im just getting demolished. i feel like I missed something somewhere but like... I just can't handle hordes of enemies? Lexington is basically a hive colony of feral ghouls and I'm sitting there, level 5, running out of ammo nonstop before I even get to my destination in the town

What helped me big time was after accepting the job to go to Lexington from those settlers, there's an overpass with a crashed plane at its base. If you climb the overpass, there's a little settlement of about 4-5 heavily armoured dudes. Clear 'em out for good guns yo!
Bagged myself a pair of sniper rifles this way.

EXACT SAME PROBLEM, RECK.
I've never found a fallout game hard until now
Right? I dunno. It almost feels like I missed some crucial quest or something that let me level up a bit and gain more resources/ammo/caps before moving onto this, but this is like...literally at the start of the game.
I'm almost mad at one of the first sidequests
Spoiler: Minor Spoilers for Early Game
The one where you're at the pumping station and have to dive down to fix the valves? Then the big crabs attack. I completely accidentally shot the questgiver during the battle (holy fuck I had to blow so many medpacks to survive) and then he was hostile to me and I had to kill him, so I failed the quest
