IIRC I believe we did the later in league 3 last year as I recall
Wraith being seeded 1 and winning his division
Reinoe being seeded 2 and winning his division
Flameaxe being seeded 3 and being a wild card
gamesbre being seeded 4 and winning his division

Though the idea of a wildcard being seeded 3 feels out of the ordinary to me. So I don't think we did it the way its usually done. Maybe the first should have happened, as I think the first is the norm. I'd put it to a vote as to what people in your league want

If a wild card beats out a division leader in terms of record, yes. We play 13-14 games a season. Schedules are unbalanced, and divisions are hodge-podge anyways. Should a team that skated by to an 8-6 record while in a division with a bunch of people who went inactive halfway through the season (it happens every fuckin' year in L2 and L3) really be seeded higher than someone who went 10-4 but happened to have a couple of players in their division who were also intense and his division winner went 11-3?

I disagree. No IR slot forces tough decisions, which is what fantasy should be about.

If only injuries affected teams equally...

The situation I am in should not be a tough decision. Teams should have the ability to field a full team without having to risk other elements of their team, particularly when they are going to replace their injured player with someone who is not as good generally. Having no IR just further punishes a team that is already having bad luck and being punished by being on the wrong end of injuries. (Just look at my record.)

Jeffery was noted as an injury concern as early as the second week in August. The fact that you burned an early round pick on him and are now paying for it is no one's fault besides your own. Leg injuries are one of the biggest long-term injuries for wideouts, and that's not new to this year.

We have six bench slots. That's more than most players will actually use. I'm capable of stashing Romo for god knows how many weeks (thanks whoever dropped him!) just because of that ridiculous size of our bench. It doesn't hurt me.

Draft smarter - best player available is only half the battle - context is everything.

Pretty sure he didn't say that. I think the point might be that if you're worried about having to work round injured players, don't compound any problems by starting off with one early in the draft.

Also, if you go through the season without having at least one week when you're scrambling because of bye weeks or injuries, your league is too shallow or your league mates are making your life way too easy.

My money leagues couldn't be any further apart this year. One I started off 1-2, and now if some things break my way next week, I'll finish in 1st for the regular season. In my other, I started off 4-0, have a loaded WR corps, and yet I've gone 1-7 since due to some really shit breaks and just the wonky-ass scoring of this particular league. Last three weeks, I've lost by 1.24, 6.63 and 10.35 points in a league where usually scores range in the upper 180s-200s. Fucking fuck.

With twelve teams, there's no good way to do the schedule. Divisions don't make it better in that aspect, but it definitely adds some different aspects of fun to it. Rivalries can grow and you can look forward to a revenge match down the line. Yes, there's a level of suck inherent when one of the four best teams misses the playoffs, but just doing twelve teams in a line for an online only league kinda makes shit boring. It's one thing for my money league where we all hang out on Sundays and drink and shit talk. It's a different story for MS L1 where I've only met 1 of the 12 in person and very briefly at that. There's some other things cultivated from other leagues (I still have never beaten LL I'm pretty sure in anything fantasy related) but that's about it.

I'd much rather have rivalry weeks than divisions. Basically, designate three rivalry weeks where games don't count toward standings, but they allow teams to pick their opponents mutually (before the draft) and play for bragging rights. This is already possible in Yahoo's system.

The advantages include:

- No randomness. Every team would play every other team ONCE in games that affect regular season standings. This addresses the argument that divisions are good because it gives a rationale for which teams you're playing twice.
- No BYEs needed to achieve every team playing every other team once. Some players made the valid point that BYEs are boring earlier in the thread.
- Allows rivalries. I'd love to be pitted against Lamora and Agar twice next season, but that is awful from a division standpoint because they consistently compile great teams. Rivalry weeks allow the "real" rivalries to play twice without care toward balance. The games are still interesting, because you can choose opponents that you really would want to beat.
- No divisions needed. Reduces the playoff implications of arbitrary randomness.

I was unaware this was a thing that could be done.

Challenge? Good. Unbalanced? Not good. I don't think it's a good idea to throw three of the five best teams into the same division next year. I wouldn't be opposed to two of us together, ofc. I've been in Lamora's division twice in a row (he made playoffs once, I made playoffs once) so I'd kind of like to continue that so I can win the tie-breaker and then never be in the same division again.

Well yeah, I mean it'd suck from that perspective, but being that this isn't one of my money leagues, I'd much rather acknowledge making playoffs is going to be an even bigger pain in the ass than it already is (4/12 is haaaaard mode maaaaaaan) but having some fun rivalries rather than be like "Well now I have to play someone who isn't actively setting their lineup twice this year." To each their own, obviously. I did like the way it used to be done, but mith being bad kinda screwed that structure, heh.
