Peridot scrambled to get all of her things together. She was sick of being told what to do, but the Diamond Authority was onto her, and soon it wouldn't just be her precious time and beloved things that were destroyed and taken away, but her life. As her escape pod hurtled towards Earth, she silently wondered how life there would be. What was life without a directive, anyway? It all seemed like a waste of time to her, but maybe such a waste of time was welcome for once.

A glaring screen indicated to Peridot that the Homeworld ship had locked its firing sensors onto her pod. She wasn't going to make it to Earth, after all. Peridot sighed and crumpled her fists. She was hoping, for once in her life, that the Diamond Authority wasn't all-reaching and perfect. Her whole reason for leaving was built upon the discovery of their imperfection, and yet, they were still capable enough to keep even a single Peridot from slipping through their hands. As her escape pod was disintegrated, she silently hoped she would survive the blast and reform years later on an Earth free of the Diamond's control.

It was the more brash and headstrong gems that often found themselves destroyed forever, and so prudence on the battlefield was a must.
