It's like every time they ban a deck for being the best deck, the meta shifts so that something else becomes the best deck! Clearly, the only solution is to ban every card.
One time, back in 'nam, Sudo was set upon by an entire squadron of charlies. He challenged them all to a game of Pictionary, which he won resoundingly. The charlies were forced to not only surrender the skirmish, but also their world-famous chili recipe, which Sudo sold to Texas for a hefty profit. Sudo is a master of diplomacy.

I'm looking forward to the day when the only modern legal cards are basic lands, and WotC starts discussing banning Islands because 3 of the top 8 were running the dreaded 60x Island deck.

I'd be fine if they unbanned half the banlist, but it's not happening obviously(and hasn't been since Song was banned) so you just gotta embrace the philosophy.

BV announced the ban by bursting into scumchat and telling me twin was banned.

I was all excited til I checked the banlist and saw that amulet bloom was also banned. I just want to do incredibly stupid stuff, please wizards, please

Either way twin ban is very dumb and I don't get it. I also think the pod ban was dumb as hell.

Don't want to make a full thread for this, but if anyone wants to play YuGiOh, go make a deck at the below site and PM me. I've been getting back into it, and it's still fun (except that pendulum summons are cancer).

Didn't Eggs get banned for pretty much the same reason as Pod and now Twin?

No?

Eggs got banned mainly because it was a logistical nightmare for tournaments. Games were going to turns and then the eggs player would take a 30 minute turn after time going off. Tournaments were running over by hours.

Eggs was never nearly as good as pod or twin.

Been considering trying Pauper on MTGO instead of "wasting" money on cube drafts. Looking for a deck that's about 20tix or less. Any fun suggestions? I know next to nothing avout Pauper. Currently leaning towards UB Teachings from the decks I've seen, or maybe messing with a Delver shell replacing Cloud of Faeries (is Phantasmal Bear good? Jeskai Sage over Spellstutter? I have no idea).

Bonus points if it has Pauper staples; I have next to nothing on MTGO.

Nah, Eggs got banned because it took fucking ages to win. If you're in Turn 5 of extra turns, you shouldn't have to wait fifteen minutes while the Eggs player combos out.

I'll never not recommend Kiln Fiend. Replace Gitaxian Probes with Gut Shot or Mutagenic Growth and you're at about 10 tix for the whole deck. http://www.mtggoldfish.com/deck/357369#online

Its similar to why top was banned at the beginning of the format. Not because they thought it was too powerful, but rather that they were concerned that it would make tournaments go too slowly. (which is another part of why I would love fetchlands getting banned. How much time do we waste shuffling every fucking round?)

I would love a Fetchland ban, especially since I finally bought my Blood Moons. The amount of time I lose waiting for my opponent to shuffle every single fetch is bullshit. I've had games against things like Jund or Jeskai Delver where the shuffling lasted longer than the actual game play.

I thought shuffling was the main reason to ban fetches?

Plus, they make a very pricey obstacle for people trying to buy into the format for the first time, since you basically need a set of every fetchland for your Modern and Legacy decks.

That's what I meant.

Also, PVDDR had a good article on the twin ban today. I...actually agree with his conclusion--Modern is still a busted format(remember when I said we just need to re-implement extended?) and they probably should have just banned out half the decks in the format vs just twin.

holy hell why are Probes so expensive online. 4+ tix a pop, ouch. I mean, Pauper is still relatively cheap and I know Probe is useful in multiple formats but compared to the rest of the deck...

I'll probably try this out, I have a soft spot for Kiln Fiend/Nivix Cyclops/etc. archetypes.

[edit] This is fun! Took the sample deck you linked (making the Probes Mutagenic Growths), dropped a Mutagenic for a MB Gut Shot, and traded one Gut Shot in the SB for an Annul.

Also played against a Burn deck, which seems fun too. Probably the second deck I'll look at if I get bored of this one.

Ah, gotcha. I knew time was a concern to some extent, but I wasn't 100% certain on the entire reasoning or if that was it.

There's also the issue where literally everyone hated Eggs. I remember the coverage during the time, anytime Eggs came close to being on screen even the announcers would start shit talking it.
