Splitting the party has pretty much always resulted in one side of the split dying iirc. The ball was different because it wasn't totally split. We could have had a total split and it would have been fine since Izzie was so overhyped, but we did have the ground division dimdoor back.

I just hate it more when DMs play teletubbies with their PCs though.

If your character sucks or if you seriously misplayed something, you deserve to be on the ground, unconscious and bleeding at -9.

And to be honest, because edition 3.5 requires so much reading and system mastery to build a legit character, most people's first or second attempts at their characters are not gonna make it.

Yeah, not only is this my first 3.5E character, but it's my first non-dps character. So... Yeah. Fun! But I'm hoping I'll do good.

Could someone comment on it? Biggest question I had was whether I should specialize in my shield stuff or if I should add some weapon feats.

Here are some comments.

If you're going to use shield as a weapon, get shield spikes.

Trying to attack with both a weapon and a shield is generally ineffective. I would recommend dropping the weapon entirely, and just use your shield as your main weapon.

Since you have your shield out all the time, there is no point in getting Quick Draw. Pick Iron Will or Great Fortitude instead.

Shield Charge kinda sucks. Only reason why you get it is because it's required for Shield Slam and Shield Slam is amazing. I think you should give up Active Shield Defense and pick up Shield Slam. Notice that when you charge, you can use Shield Slam and Shield Charge simultaneously.

Active Shield Defense is bad. You don't want to fight defensively since your attack roll is not that good. You don't want to use total defense at all. Your AC is high already. You should be Shield Slamming every turn.

Shield Ward is actually pretty good. I would recommend it for your lv 9 feat if you can't think of what to get.
