i don't get the pessimism for the movie. the second they announced it, i thought "hey if they do an all female cast, melissa mccarthy & kristen wiig are shoe ins right?" and like, bridesmaids and spy were both fucking great comedies
I think Feig is in the perfect place to helm the new Ghostbusters. Reitman was in a similar place w/ just a couple solid comedies under his belt before he jumped to direct the first one (he had just done Stripes & Meatballs).
"Alien ghosts" was an early pitch idea and didn't make it into the final film, and even if it does, that is literally no less ridiculous than Stay Puft. im super excited for this, I like blockbuster scale comedies, and I think going the all female route was a pretty great idea
It's not really a cash grab imo. I mean sure money motivates everything in Hollywood but this seems to be a bit of a passion project and I for one think we should chill the fuck out on shitting all over the movie before we even see it. Feig has given us ZERO REASON to doubt the film
I recently watched ghostbusters for the first time and I expected to love it. But it was kind of a letdown. A few funny bits, but nothing like what I expected.
Really the first ghost busters will still be better, the 2nd one is still the best through. We don't really need sjw trash infecting a beloved franchise like the disease it is. It rarely works (mad max being the exception because the message was reasonable common sense and not shoved in your face to much which i doubt will happen here.)

Hi my name is star wars.
Starwars took a safe approach by pretty much paying homage to the first movie and listening to fans. The only problems with it is they made rey a marysue and klyo ren is a bit overpowered when compared to the power levels of the past. Other than that it was fine. The new ghost buster has done none of that.

Having a all female team is alright but they are going doing the route of girl power and focusing on gender aspect first ghostbuster didn't focus on gender at all and the cartoon series even through it was full of diversity was still epic because it didn't focus on it. Also melissa mccarthy is a living archetype that is tedious. Watch as they laugh how fat she is by running with the group and when she gets there they caught the ghost or watch her be socially awkward, watch her get injured. It's like how I started to grow sick of recent adam sandler movies. Yeh they might take the aliens out now hopefully. Also stay puft was classic and hilarious.
