Town+scum avoid answering because their first thought isnt that they're the same on both worlds. It's that their roles are different and so they think about how claiming the same is what they should do, and what everyone will do. Plus there's the issue about claiming that they're the same, and get lynched as scum. Theres the thinking about how then people might think they're scum on both.
