i will say in a shocking twist ive yet to have a shitty game while in a premade, league can have fuckin abysmal games even if youre grouped but this game is consistently pretty okay even if only because of the more casualness leads to fun voicechats

The biggest reason OW has a friendly feel is that they work very hard to conceal who's doing badly on your team. Which I think is smart.

disagree. its really hard to assess how well you're doing if you can't tell how well your teammates are doing. its obvious whenever someones not doing jack shit, but infinitely harder to improve yourself if you don't know how you compare

i actually think it's because there's no item/stat snowballing in this game so getting wiped out once isn't like "oh man the game is over". you spawn back in and you're back on even playing field in terms of ability to win a fight, so a death isn't that big of a deal
Like I don't think the widow pick is inherently bad, it's just that the people making the pick are the "I main sniper so I play sniper" type 90% of the time.

friendly reminder that touching the point just once resets the "overtime" timer
so it's okay to sacrifice yourself for it if you'd lose otherwise, your team might get time to catch up (Genji and Tracer are pretty good at tickling the point in this manner without getting killed)
Before confirming the placement of Mei's wall, you can press the button again to rotate it's position
If you put up a Mei wall that hurts your team, press the button again and it will take it down
Zarya shield can save herself and one teammate from a lot of scary stuff. Like Junkrat ult. And she gets a huge charge off of it.
Also don't shoot the zarya with her barrier up unless you know you can kill her while it's on her. (If you're bastion, for example)
Speaking of Zarya, her ult does virtually no damage, so it's best not to use by yourself if your intent is to kill their team. It doesn't charge up fast so it'd be a huge waste otherwise. But if you have a big charge you might be okay. Also it doesn't stop people from shooting you or using abilities.
If you're healing someone with mercy but not facing them, if you press shift, you will still fly to the person you are healing
If you don't know this you can accidentally end up flying backwards when you don't want to
If Zenyatta has full health + a shield from toblerone or Symmetra he can survive an entire bodyshot from Widowmaker!
The payload heals you if you are the team pushing it
3 people on the payload = max speed
There is a crouch button, ctrl
feel free to share other stuff guys, not every little bit of information is available within the game or in a tutorial so I'm just sharing things I learned along the way that wasn't immediately obvious to me or others I've played with
also yeah any time i see a widowmaker or torb or bastion on offense i start just screaming
I mean, all of these champs have their niche on offense. for example, bastion and torb are good on offense hanamura A / volskaya A because it's sort of that Y shape where the enemy has to go through the contested area to get to the point. on payload maps, bastion just sitting on the payload can be pretty good as well. and I don't think widow actually suffers all that much being offense instead of defense, except on like route 66 where there's just so much goddamn walking to do. And actually if you have a good team Widow is still good even on route 66, but ime I usually have to babysit the payload no matter who I am so I always do Hanzo over Widow for route 66 offense.

also note you can turn this behavior off in the mercy-specific options if you want.
another hot tip is that when you're zarya into mei, use shield AFTER she freezes you for a couple of seconds, if possible. this resets the freeze "stacks" and makes you, or whoever you projected barrier on to, very strong into mei.

With Zarya, don't pre-empt damage. Put the shield on someone as they are taking damage. You charge up more. The shield only lasts for 2 seconds so you might put it on and it disappears before they even get shot. Obviously it requires a bit more timing but it probably helps you better.
Turning on allied health bars on Zarya helps with that a lot.
Should also have them on for Soldier 76 too.
As the last rays of sunlight fade, one killer chases another through the tangled madness of the city.
A flash of steel announces the presence of his quarry.
The stage is set.
The night explodes.
I learned just yesterday that Symmetra teleporters have charges. So if you're Lucio or another mobile champ, let someone like Roadhog take the tp instead.
You can jump around corners and turret as Bastion at the start of the jump to reduce your downtime.
Junkrat tires can climb walls.
If you don't know how to lie, then how do you know when you're being lied to?
No snowflake in an avalanche ever feels responsible.
Also, you should probably change your crosshair bloom color to light green, as there's very few things to contrast it, so you can keep track of your aiming easier.
I use short crosshairs for everyone but I've heard of some people using default for 76, Zarya and others, and dot for Widow.

as a tandem to this, reinhardt and monkey shield works the same way. when they block damage and break, they still block all the damage from the tick that did them in
