however, considering that the number of town:scum own is already known, it is likely to be something else.

regardless, a census taker is a role that gets told the number of living players who satisfy a certain condition. chances are he was told what, otherwise the role is quite literally useless

im on my tablet rn because its early in the morning so i dont have the typing dexterity to full claim right now but ill be ready to do it in less than an hour so have some patience

yttrium, beta radiation cop, neighbour

(see the "beta radiation" bit? thats the "br" i claimed yesterday)

ive already claimed the neighbour flavour, elements of the periodic table, so thats easy

now i have to explain the "beta radiation cop" bit and exactly what it does. great fun.

first, let me explain something briefly - while my role is yttrium, my flavour and role refers to a specific isotope of yttrium, that is

yttrium-90

, a radioactive isotope that undergoes beta decay.

one night, i may target one player. this player will be dosed with yttrium-90. this will make them test positive for beta radiation. on following nights, i may target any player to investigate for beta radiation. players who have targeted or been targeted by any other player who is positive for beta radiation will also test positive.

hopefully the reason why i withheld my claim becomes immediately apparent; my action on the first night (the yttrium dosing) is extremely important and one-shot, and theres nothing i can do to fix it if i fuck it up, which would be all too easy to do if scum knew my role. whereas now, its fine, because the key action has been done and theres nothing much scum can do from now on without knowing who i dosed (

something which i am not claiming right now, but i can confirm it wasnt magnaofillusion

).

if you want to know the exact order of how things come along, the spreading of the beta radiation comes before the investigation, but they both seem to be basically the last actions that occur. for example

night 1:
player b targets player a with something
i dose player a with yttrium-90

here, player b has not received any beta radiation and would not test positive on any following nights unless any further interactions. this was an issue because it meant my original plan (target someone who would be nightkilled n1, and then anyone testing negative could not have performed it) would not have worked.

night 2:
player a (already having been dosed) targetes player c
i investigate player c

here, however, i would get a positive result on player c for containing beta radiation. hopefully this gives you an idea of the priorities of the role

as i said, the exact flavour of the role is yttrium-90, and all flavour refers to that.

the text referring to the action is about the specific use of yttrium-90 to treat hepatocellular carcinoma, and while there are no details about it on yttrium-90s wikipedia page, you can see it referred to on this section of yttriums main wikipedia article. however, when it comes to how the actual role works, this isnt quite it.

the roles actual power is likely to be referring to the use of sources of radiation (in this case, beta) as radioactive tracers - used to trace the paths of reactions usually within the human body as the radioactivity can be tracked from outside the body. while yttrium-90 isnt mentioned on this particular wiki page, this is the most accurate thing i can find in terms of the roles flavour and use - putting a radioactive source in a specific place and tracking where it goes

so yeah, thats my claim. its honestly not that good an investigative especially considering the priorities, and i was hoping that my claim would draw a nightkill. alas.
