The frustrating thing is unless they really plan on fucking themselves they're still going to want to be part of the market. And if they do, they're not gaining any new control over immigration.

I don't really want to leave behind the people and cultural connections that I have to the UK, but it feels untenable. I want to live somewhere inclusive with socialised healthcare. Now I guess I have to find somewhere new - probably in Europe, but who's to say, with the extra instability that will now come to the whole of the EU, that anywhere to which I move stays that way? And I don't even know what career I would take there, because I don't want this one any more. Buying a house feels like such a distant dream.

Honestly, right now, it's impossible to know what it is I'm supposed to be looking forward to.
George. :(

I'm so sorry.

Wait, did someone seriously just cite Machiavelli in a discussion of modern government? While making an argument about democracy? Now I've seen everything.

Lol the Prince was not a satire. The only part of it which was not serious was the way it was addressed and to whom.

Rousseau is saying that he thinks this thing about the Prince and then gives literally no textual reasons why that is true. That's called an appeal to authority, it's a logical fallacy and not an argument. Maybe you should take a class in critical thinking.

Amazingly, none of that is an actual textual argument for why the Prince is satire either. Please try again.

I have asked you to make a textual argument, or show me an expert making a textual argument why the prince is satire. You are either unwilling or unable to do that. Pointing out that fact is not noise.

In post 124, Killthestory wrote:European Union seems to be causing lots of controversy lately, indirectly, at least.

You have the February 2014 Revolution in Ukraine that resulted from President Viktor Yanukovych which ended up with him being impeached and fleeing the country, and the 'Maidan' protesters instituting a new form of government. Now, you have the Brexit resulting in David Cameron resigning while Britain leaves the European Union.

It's rather sad that trying to unify a continent is only ending up causing lots of problems and controversy.
Do you really think thats all its done?

Of course it has it's great accomplishments alongside it's disappointments, but I only name those two disappointments off of memory since I'm currently researching the Ukrainian conflict for fun. Naming off accomplishments is also counter productive to my point.
but would be pretty sweet for intellectual honesty.

Right, I remember now. You are the one who said that 'killing and eating animal' was a categorical imperative in Kantian philosophy.
To quote an eminent thinker of our time, Francis Lalanne, you not understanding what I'm saying does not necessarily mean that I'm the stupid one.

You are now set to 'ignore' because you are not only ignorant and dishonest but uninteresting as well :)
um...I'm a vegetarian. I think you're thinking of someone else, bruv.

Also I don't think I've had a discussion about Kantian philosophy since high school.
