Um, actually, yes I do.
I told you before I got a role PM I was going to lurk.
Real-life also interfered in my play this game. You saw it in Diffusion of Power, even! I hardcore lurked that game.
The lurking wasn't what made me scum.

The protecting of my scumbuddies, in particular Titus and PeregrineV did, as did my refusal to back down from reads until I had no choice (zakk/Suzune), and how my read on Antihero never changed. (I maintain that townreading him was not a scumclaim, but the WAY I townread him was.)

But the lurking?
Not so much.

Seems to be a pattern these days for scum.
Especially with ranger.
Again: that implies I haven't been coasting regardless of alignment.
But, I have.
You saw it first-hand in Antihero's science UPick. I wasn't giving that game my all.
There were reasons I was scum.

Lurking was not one of them.

SirCakez wrote:What happens constantly with Ranger!scum is she lurks for a while, gets wagoned them vomits out a lot of AtE and "content", then goes back to lurking.
It's a super easy pattern to recognize.
THIS part is true, though.
The only problem is...Ranger!town lurks for a while, gets wagoned, and
doesn't
vomit out AtE and content...then gets mislynched.
So it's a great tell if you can actually see me live to give it!
It's just that you're not gonna get that far if I'm not alive. :P

That was the idea, yes. :P
We had no conftown alive at that point, except the masons.
I flat-out told Anti we weren't killing the masons.
So, we needed to kill a VT.

You were not only the towniest-looking VT, but also the VT whose death I could easily spin against zakk/Suzune.
Still kinda bummed I couldn't pull off that lynch, but oh well.

Luna Fox wrote:wow Ranger actually did a pretty solid attack
Give me 200 pages of BS and town playing as if they're scum, and yeah, I can throw together some pretty convincing arguments.
It's actually becoming something of a scumtell I think.
I can't recall a town game I've been in recently where I've made a convincing argument. (After all...they've almost all been town losses.) Mostly mislynched, or if nightkilled my reads not followed. I just don't put in the conscious effort to make a solid point.
(me pictures zakk and ranger actually fighting in a fighting game).
It actually felt that way sometimes, first against zakk, then in my brawl against Dwlee. Of course, I had a secret weapon:
Confidence.
I convinced myself I was actually town making points that were
so
valid that there was no way I was scum and no way my opponent wasn't scum, and I think that tone came across in my posting well.
beeboy wrote:I have never seen a mason have to put in so much effort into not getting lynched.
Probably because you've never seen a mafiate put so much effort into trying to lynch the mason. :P

Thanks.
Now never make me do that again. :P

There's a reason I lurked, and it wasn't because of strategy.
You know how exhausting that posting storm was on me?

Posting a single readslist every day is a nice, casual way for me to play, regardless of alignment. I'll point out things I've noticed that need to be commented on, but otherwise, it's low-effort posting that still allows me to accomplish something regardless of my alignment.
Getting in a heated wall war is stressful and I hated every minute of it.
Though, I do admit, the fight against zakk and Dwlee was thoroughly enjoyable.

Antihero wrote:seriously i think pretty much EVERYTHING i did from claiming pt detector to faking the varsoon guilty to not immediately going after the masons was just losing, losing, losing strategy.
I dunno, it got Heat and TiphaineDeath to target you, which killed both of them and also killed Almost50.

I'd say the claim worked well enough.

It also got you near endgame.
SirCakez wrote:lol the zakk kill will just put even more suspicion on Ranger
Thankfully, zakk being a mason helped me there. The masons were confirmed town. ONE of them was going to die. zakk was the mason universally perceived as more competent, so his death would look less suspicious. I actually figured if zakk had lived, he'd have gotten paranoid of me because he lived. I didn't want to risk finding out, though! So, zakk was the safer kill to make.
zakk wrote:Still though, Dwlee for MVP. For real.
Agreed.
Dwlee was on FIRE. He was absolutely terrifying. Facing him in a 1v1 left me with absolute dread; it was a fight I never would have entered if I thought I had a choice, but he left me with none.
This isn't the only game, either. Dwlee's been consistently performing well across all his games.

mhsmith wrote:good job by ranger to take it home but dwlee should have gotten the W there.
I do admit Dwlee deserved the win, but I think I put in enough that it's understandable he didn't. After all, I had motivation: I
have
been on a losing streak, nine (or ten) games more specifically. And I'm taking a break from playing, so I REALLY wanted to end on a win.
...Ironically enough, I got it anyway from Paint Mafia, thanks to...Dwlee. Still, that was in part thanks to a (hilarious) scum mistake costing them a win, so prior to that it was looking like even there I'd have a loss and this game would be my last chance to have one.
zakk wrote:methinks a scummy nom is in order for our young little paragon of mafia hunters <3
Definitely.
Titus wrote:I miss this Ranger
I don't! I hate how much effort she puts in.
Ranger has an awesome lylo defense of Titus never busses of she NKs correctly.
I had several awesome lylo defenses!

I'm just surprised they actually worked.

When it came to Suzune/Dunnstral for the nightkill (Dwlee was never an option in my mind), I honestly didn't think it made a difference which I nightkilled.
But I more or less killed Dunnstral because I figured a nightkill is a tip of a hat acknowledging that player's skills, and I felt like giving that honor to Dunnstral more than Suzune.

Setting up for an endgame I wouldn't be massacred in.
Refused to hammer nos
Is calling Dunnstral town
Everybody knows Suzune is town
Is she trying to start a 1v1 with Dwlee? Lmao
Wasn't exactly plan A! But, I needed to look town. And a town-me had more reason to suspect Dwlee than Nosferatu or Dunnstral. And, I knew Nosferatu was getting lynched that day no matter what I did (the only other option was me!), so that meant if I scumread Nosferatu, I'd have nowhere to go in lylo. I needed an endgame plan, and Dwlee was already attacking me, so I needed to reciprocate.
She has looked scatterbrained as fuck the entire last few days, and wasn't even there at the beginning of the game but is only now pumping and content. I don't know how much more obvious you could be
Actually, being scatterbrained is a mild towntell of mine. The lack of content at the beginning but pumping it out in lategame is not alignment indicative in of itself...HOWEVER, you're right that the TIMING of it was.

I was one or two days too early.

If I was town, I'd give content in lylo (because, no duh? You need to in order to win), but I was giving content PRIOR TO lylo, for no discernible reason. (Because there wasn't any town reason! It was pure scum.)
SirCakez wrote:now ranger is getting greedy
Your greedy is my "calculated risk". ;)
zakk wrote:ranger was utterly, completely convinced that it was zakk/suzune scum
and yet now without skipping a beat, without so much as apologizing, recalibrating, or commenting on how she was wrong, she's moving on to smearing yet another person
Eh, half-valid. I don't apologize for wrong reads as town. I'll acknowledge I was wrong, but I do not dwell on it. I move on. And I did spend time recalibrating; it wasn't an instant switch onto Dwlee. But you are right: I didn't acknowledge I was wrong, and I didn't spend
enough
time on the recalibration. I put in enough to mimic my townplay, but not enough where it was an actual replication of my townplay because I couldn't keep that up indefinitely.

beeboy wrote:I think Ranger is trying to lynch into a winnable lylo situation with this Dwlee push.
I knew I wasn't going to get a Dwlee lynch. It simply wasn't going to be possible to convince two of {Suzune, Dunnstral, Nosferatu}. Maybe one, but not two.
However, by pushing Dwlee that day, I could set up a foundation for the following day.

I knew there was risk involved, but if I just hammered Nosferatu without good reason (e.g. deadline), it would have been a scumclaim, so I needed to devise a way for Nosferatu to die
without
it being suspicious on my part, and my Dwlee push was how I accomplished that.
