Ok. I am going to tell you the ideal theory AND explain why there's evidence I wasn't perfect.
1) Scumhunting is a highly powerful tool. You want your investigative target, whoever you pick, to leave tells with whomever else. If you have a guilty, and are forced to claim it, it's likely your last result. Very rarely does town get many many days like this.
2) You want scum to get caught by bussing too early, defending awkwardly, that requires talking about your target.
3) the target's reads reveal info.
4) natural scumhunting sets up town to hunt the rest after your death.
Given the confusion in the town now, I didn't spend enough time unifying I think.
