Mission 2b - The Party Explosion Job

Stuffer Shack Demolitions
Image

PeregrineV is the lieutentant for this mission. House and Daenerys and Dragons are accompanying him.

PeregrineV was given details to blow up the StufferShack data factory to greatly damage the financial capabilities of Aztechnology. StufferShack charges criminally high prices to citizenry that have to buy their food to live. By blowing up their headquarters, the company would be vulnerable to social justice hackers that would attack the mainframe in the matrix. This would prevent Aztechnology from charging rates that turn a profit. That group is ready to charge the moment they see the facility in smoke.

The elementalist, ganger, and explosives expert began making preparations when PeregrineV gets a phone call. He relays the conversation to the group. "There's beefed up security tonight, because there's a gala of all the big wigs tonight. Any physical violence can send someone to prison. The guards are on watch for that. It will be very difficult to pull of physical combat."

The group dons their tuxedos to head into the mission. Then, they find there's a guard practically stalking them. They cannot do anything with the guard breathing down their neck. This extra guard is acting as if he was specifically told to be on the lookout for you three.

SetbacksThe scum have triggered that this mission takes place at a gala, meaning that physical acts of violence include a severe risk of going to prison if not done stealthily. The scum also have included an extra guard that must be dealt with before the mission can proceed.

Adventure TimePeregrineV, House and Daenerys and Dragons are on this adventure.
On an adventure, you'll see a narrative and tasks. At the end of most every narrative, you'll have a group vote as to the decision to be made. This works like lynching. The mod will then roll the corresponding dice as explained in the introductory posts to the game. Succeed on all three challenges and you'll win the setting. Those are the general rules. Things may change if scum get involved.
The choice works with a majority vote. PeregrineV, the leader, counts as 1.5 votes (essentially a tiebreaker).
It takes 1.5 to hammer a choice.
Vote by typing either
Vote: Choice 1
or VOTE: Choice 2. As long as your intent is clear, the vote counts.

Choice 0
Do you have someone spend the mission chatting up the guard thus removing them from the mission or try to take out the guard by physical combat?

Minor Edit for typo: I said that it took 2.5 to hammer. Obviously, only 1.5 needed to hammer.

Im on phone but will look at stats tomorrow.

What is our physical combat total? Our stealth total?
Usually, challenges are combined. This charisma will be an individual selection (meaning you pick one player to sweet talk the guard).

No layering.

Success on Charisma would. Not necessarily on Combat.

Given the Gala sabotage, does that mean we need more success rosls to succeed (at the combat option on this guard), or that a glitch is more likely to end us up in prison?

Since the guard is an add-on sabotage, would it be outside of the parameters for the Gala sabotage (physical combat difficult)?
Gala sabotage does not have increased difficulty. Public Combat may result in bad things but what it is you do not know.

It is part of this mission and subject to the public gala combat rules.

Risky stoppage
Image

House and Daenerys and Dragons head into the facility using the cover PeregrineV provides. His combat skills were excellent. His stealth, not so much. After escorting the guard into the guards' lounge, PeregrineV uses magic to endure a heart attack. Before PeregrineV can react, the guards are on top of him. The guard that was stalking their party was insanely fit with no heart trouble. The swarm of guards prevent PeregrineV from casting. He's off to prison.

House is now the lieutenant on this mission. The guard is dispatched though.

Looking for Weak Spots
Image

You go up into the executive building together. "Peregrine, we need the data from the Johnson." House stammers. Dead silence.

"Come on man" Lilth chimes in. No response. "Peregrine's in jail. There's nothing we can do."

The pair of you don't waste any more time on PV and begin scouting for weak points. You find the columns of the building all have the Aztech symbol carved into them. It was a good place to place the explosive materials, when you get to the center of the building. The problem is, you have to get to the correct spot in the building. Sweet talking the guards will be impossible after the last incident.

"So do we kill the guards, or attempt to sneak past them? They aren't letting anyone in where we need to be to ensure the death of the executives." House asked.

Sneaking would only require one roll, while fighting requires two.

If we're killing the guards, why the need for stealth? I don't get it.
Choices were designed pregame. That is correct that both options require a stealth roll. Combat means you are more likely to pass the original task but failure on the stealth roll means someone is more likely to go to prison. If you pick to try and sneak past the guards, failure means a reroll without being subject to the prison risk.

Challenge FailureYou attempt to sneak past the guards, but discover the entrance you planned on using is blocked by storage equipment not documented on the map Mr. Johnson gave you. You'll have to find another entrance. You don't really say much to each other, but the look on your faces says it all.

There are two more routes according to the map the Johnson gave you.

RetryDo you use an individual power if applicable (PM please, no majority required), retry this challenge with one more additional success required, or retry with one less die required for a critical failure?

Critical Mission FailureYou attempt to sneak past the guards, but there's just too many. If you had stealth skills, maybe you could sneak past guards, but the second route you tried failed. You couldn't get any sort of rhythm to sneak past these guards. You know you'd have no problem taking out the individual guards on route, but the risk of having the other guards pounce on one of the two of you was just too great.

On your way out, House sees that there is a violent toxic food source that Stuffer Shack is selling. He decides to grab some of the bacteria from research lab on the way out. In extremely high doses, this can be used to kill a player during the nightphase.

Mod ResultsThis mission failed due to a critical glitch. The predetermined result of a failure on this mission is that the Party Leader or Lieutenant gets a vigilante shot that can only be used on nights after this one. House is the Lieutenant; therefore he gets the vig shot. If this shot fails for any reason, it is not refunded due to the nature of the toxins.

This thread will remain open until daybreak.
