Well, naturally that's a given because you're the person it would normally go to, and I would totally feel the same. However, as an outside perspective, the quote pyramid type thing and the passion over the title seems rather childish. It's not the actual civil debating, but the people that don't help contribute to the discussion at all.

Why?

There's a number of reasons, and I'll use a few examples which might historically help in describing it:

Wikipedia notes that

Mr. Personality

was a reality television show with the premise that a woman must select a husband from twenty bachelors whose faces are covered by masks throughout the show, supposedly basing her decisions on who to eliminate solely based on their personality instead of looks, hence the title.

Over time, the term

Mr. Personality

began to be bastardized for sarcastic usage meaning someone with a bad or nonexistent personality, concurrently with its non-ironic usage meaning someone with a good personality. (Also, for sake of completeness, there was also a song from a one-hit wonder band which implied the nicknamed individual was ugly and had only their personality going for them, but that's not what I'm trying to imply here, since clearly I have no idea what Psyche looks like, and anyway, it really doesn't matter). A writer on Yahoo Answers notes that the term can be used sarcastically for someone that does not have a personality, or seriously, for someone that has a great personality. Urban Dictionary similarly describes it as a term which sarcastically indicates that one "lacks a personality", i.e. "Look at Tom, Mr. Personality over there..." however, I would argue that even this sarcastic usage is not even necessarily negative, depending on context.


For instance (let me just practically relate this back to Psyche, here), I think he has quite a unique personality which is pretty hard to nail down in terms of how he interacts with other forum users, how much effort he ascribes to different tasks or projects (or even posts) around the forum, and generally I think this would be a commensurately ambiguous term which should describe the fact that he has a unique personality, even though it might be hard to tell what type it is.


And then, last and certainly not least, there's

this thread which Psyche created

, which he has clearly put an incredible amount of thought and work into creating and maintaining, regarding categorizing people by personality, and give them insight about how to improve themselves. It's a great thread with a great premise. Really, please do give it a readthrough if you haven't.


Also, funnily enough, there's actually a personality expert named Tomas Chamorro-Premuzic, Ph.D. (Professor of Business Psychology at UCL and NYU) who studies online dating, entrepreneurship, and consumer preferences, and he has a blog where he mostly talks about different ideas revolving around character and destiny, and this blog is called called

Mr. Personality

. It appears very similar to what Psyche seems to be trying to accomplish in the aforementioned thread.

Some of my other title suggestions for others (and Psyche included) have been more of jokes, but I think this one actually fits pretty well.
