Title Fairy: Killer App Edition (Swipe Right!)

As someone who has shit posted in Title fairy their good deal share, in this and the previous one. (although many of my noms were serious). I will say that I would like to see less shit posting in here, but I don't see how a lock would solve the issue?

I mean, correct me if I am wrong, but most good title suggestions are kind of spur of the moment ideas people have based on a members contributions to the site. They aren't really "planned" out so much. So I don't see how locking the thread and waiting some arbirtary date to reopen will solve the issue but stopping the nom process for that arbitrary time.

The shit posts will return at that point I think. I don't think we will get flood of good noms just because this was locked for a time, if anything I would say you might get even less good noms because someone thinking "hey I have this good nom for this player....oohhh wait the thread is locked. Never mind" and then they don't ever start the process because they forget or something.

The current ConManMick title nomination is already bad. It's not new. It's not clever. It's not particularly celebratory or flattering or notable. It's a "hey guys, remember this joke I said a while back, let me re-tell it in case I get more laughs now because we gotta keep yapping" level of meh. Who cares?

This title was suggested by myself a long time ago, as a serious nom, and got somewhat ignored.
It has been nommed again by Dav, who I don't think even saw the first one! Obviously it is noteworthy enough to be thought of over a long time span and by very different people!

It is flattering - his posts are good fun and people look forward to them, discuss them, enjoy them. It is notable - he's the only one who does it and that thread is kept fun because of it, being the threads major content source.

A lot of people care, and that's why it is a serious suggestion! What makes it "meh" to you?? Because it was suggested already? That doesn't mean it's bad!

I think a thread lock is throwing the baby out with the bathwater. If the issue is that people are spamming up the thread, we just kick out the problematic people: it's not hard to say "the Title Fairy thread is for serious nominations, not low-effort garbage; if you post garbage, you get a threadban".

I usually don't instigate the shitposting, I just give my 2 cents on the topics at hand. I also make serious nom, ask for clarifications on noms, and discuss ways to clean this place up. I do shitpost, but I also make a lot of serious content here!

If Chev would like, I am totally fine with him going through and deleting any of my posts he thinks are off topic, superfluous, or shitposting. This will bring my total post count down, and I will keep it down! I fully intend to be a better member of this community! I've watched a couple conversations go by and not posted or joined in, which is a trend I will continue. But there is no way, even with this effort, that most people will catch up to my post count, so I'll always be seen as an "issue" In here. I mean, Shotty is tied at 4th most posts and he's been banned for like 4 months!

So, call me a bad apple if you like. Ban me if you like, but I think it is misguided and that you are disregarding my recent attempts to become a proper Co tributing member of the Title Fairy society.
