I've always played it that way becase it was my understanding of the rules but I honestly have no idea about the offical errata on it. I just have always followed the "new symbol ends your turn" rule.

Right, you have to end your movement but you can use items.

Which is why if you pick up the dark dice from an item room, you can use them immediately.

Or why you can use the dog at the very end of the turn.

I'm not bitching, I was issuing you what people all a "Conditional clause".

I.E: "If you do X, I will do Y".

In this case, it was "If you take the items from the vault, I will steal your best item."

It was meant to discourage you from going to the vault, you didn't listen and that's your prerogative.

But it's my prerogative to follow through on my conditional.

And if you think it's unfair for me to want to have all the shiny things to myself, you need to understand that this is a game with a guaranteed traitor, and so I have two objectives:

1) If I am the traitor, be as strong as possible and make everyone else as weak as possible.

2) if I am not the traitor, be as strong as possible and make the traitor as weak as possible.

In both cases, you getting items may not affect my win condition, but me getting items does!
