so I filled out my passport renewal application and will see about submitting it Monday. So far, have 2 coworkers like super-psyched about going, (and this just happened to be the first two co workers to walk into the room while I was on the computer) and know of 1-3 others who have expressed interest in joining MS/going with me to future meets. So maybe a whole bunch of new inductees?

Can you link me to what you're looking at so we can work it out amongst ourselves worst case scenario? I know al lof them, and we all do shit involving owing each otehr large sums of money quite often, so if I ended up fronting an apartment for like 5 of us or something to make them pay me back so you didn't have to worry about it, that might be an option. I'll try to have the details all hammered out between all interested parties by the end of the month (lots of folks on post-deployment leave at the moment) so we can get you your money if we end up just crashing with the maingroup


EDIT: Looks like driving isn't too bad of an option. It's only $70 in gas each way, so $150 round trip, less than 12 hours drive, so only like $25 a head for food. I might talk to them about driving instead O.o

So I get to jump through like 1000 hoops to travel outside of the continental US on personnal travel, and one of the things I need to provide to the agency giving me clearance to visit Canada is a full physical address and point of contact with contact information for my visit to Canada

This is the response to a request to leave the country:

Canada is fairly easy, but still has some requirements. Good on you for planning well in advance!

Check the Foreign Clearance Guide https://www.fcg.pentagon.mil for the country/countries to which you intend to travel. Sections 1 and 4 will provide the information necessary for your travel request, to include training, documentation, medical forms, etc. Sections 6 and 7 provide amplifying information that you will need for the IFPP request. Additionally, you will need to know the FPCON and threat levels of the area in which you are traveling. This will dictate who approves your travel; FPCON B is first O6, FPCON C is first O7. You cannot just submit an eLeave request in NSIPS, as DCOM or CSG-8 would be unable to approve it. Begin filling out any required forms, requesting visas, and completing the required training now for travel in July/August.

Once you have completed all required training, input the information into APACS https://apacs.dtic.mil/apacs/apacsservl ... apacsLogin, if required for country and or theater clearance. This will alert the DAO that you intend to travel to a particular country and AOR. If theater and or country clearance is required, you must have an approved APACS request in order to travel.

Then you will draft an IFPP, using the MAY16 template on SIPR. It outlines specifics on your travel, the required training, and contact information, and general contingency plans. This message will go out to CDS-28 for approval, or further routing to CSG-8. Your DIVO and Chief can assist if you do not have SIPR access (if not, I can assist). The IFPP will identify your flight plan; this does not mean buy the tickets now, instead have the intended flight plan so it can be approved and then you can purchase it.
The end result is to have everything to them 45 days out so they can review and take action before the 30 day deadline.

Keeping your CoC, MAC, and me informed the whole time will make things go by smoothly. Any questions or concerns, please let me know!

Yeah. Its a bit of a hassle even for the easy countries. Plus you have to start planning like 2 months out and you can usually never plan that far ahead in the military.

But we also have loopholes where I just visited 8 countries in the past 8 months and didn't pay a dime of travel expenses.

I might be /out, because I might be out of the Navy by the time this meet happens and driving there from Utah is not as cheap as driving there from Virginia

Utah is where I get sent home when I am discharged from the Navy.

However there is a 2-5 man billet based out of Salt Lake City to ride the train from Hill AFB to wherever our nuclear dump in the Nevada desert is and back every few weeks. Thats a Navy billet, but for Nuclear-Qualified sailors.

Freak the fuck out. logs into paypal and sees it was actually 77 Canadian Dollars spent on something, and the $58 transaction i saw was after conversion to US dollars.
