Btw, I think I remarked in game thread that scum tend to crush mini normals when they have neighbor ability. Townies are just CONSISTENTLY bad at reading people in PT. It's scums biggest edge (other than suicides) of the format IMO.

IIRC there were like 10 games w scum neighbors, the only one lost was multiball where the scum neighbor ate a n1 bullet from other scum team, it's kinda crazy really.

Sure, but usually scum crush it with that ability.

I mean, compare the PT of this game for me/pie to last game with pie. This game I got emotional, pushed her, gave her shit, and got suspected for it. Last game, her buddy said a bunch of reasonable but kinda boring stuff while sometimes bussing and got townread for it. And that's not a pie criticism, that's simply to show that even competent players struggle with it. I was making very little effort to town tell in PT, especially early on when I suspected her, and the result was an eventual suicide. She also made relatively little effort to town tell (other than "I totally wouldn't do this as scum" for a bunch of things including stuff that I thought she very well might do as scum), and that made me suspect her as well.

Or to put it another way, mafia is hard and we're all terrible at this

Fwiw I consider myself a good player and I'm almost exactly .500. Otoh I've also been called ridiculously unlucky and for the most part agree w that assessment (I also have a decent # of multiball games to my resume)

I'm good enough as town to be the best town player in a losing town, or a helpful town player in a winning town (obv this game would be neither). Almost never have I been the single best player in a winning town (newbie 1747 debatably qualifies but it's hard to think of a second... part of the reason the ending to real folk blues grates so much was that I CRUSHED that game with my reads, and panzer outed his whole team on d2 causing the whole game to cancel - like I said, luck has rarely been on my side...)
