While I'll link to theorycrafting I've done before, whenever I do so I almost always include the disclaimer that "Your mileage may vary on this", "this is some pretty common sense, I'm not unique in having said it", "some of this stuff is old and obsolete, or was of questionable validity to begin with", and the like. I will say exactly why it's NOT perfect, why it should be taken with grains of salt.

And while I'll brag about my scumgame any ol' day, I don't go bragging about my towngame. My scumgame? Probably in the top ten players on mafiascum. THERE I have an ego, sure, yeah. I'll admit it fully that in terms of being a scumfuck, I have an ego, because I see being scum like being a supervillain. Supervillains are defined as having an ego. So THERE, I will say I am good, because yeah I know I am.

Not so much as town. Nobody knows how much I suck more than I do. I might (MIGHT) be in the top 10% of town players on the site--but if so, only because of how shitty town players across the site are. And I'd still be in the lower percentile. And worth mentioning: we have 19694 members. Yeah, not all of them are active; yeah, that includes alts and hydras. Butstill, top 10% would still mean that there are potentially up to 200 players on our site (by my mental math anyway) who're better than I am. Not the hallmark of a great town player. Not the realm of someone who has an ego.

If I actually had the accuracy rate to back me, I could afford to have an ego: "I'm good, I KNOW I'm good, so it doesn't matter if it looks like arrogance, I know I'm good anyway so I'm probably right even when I'm wrong!". But since I don't? I suck, I know I suck, so it absolutely matters and while I can display confidence when I hold it, I absolutely need to be honest when I do not, because I'm wrong even when I'm right.


And right now, I feel like I'm wrong yet I'm pushing anyway because there's really nothing else you can do. I lack confidence. I have three choices: quit the game and give up. Stay in the background and hope on some unspecified future date that things get better and I gain it back. Or, in spite of knowing I'm probably wrong, push and see if that push gives anything productive.

I don't think you get it sweetie. This player list is of such a caliber that we simply wont catch scum D1 and i've accepted it. A lurker lynch is just a mislynch down the road, I'd rather it be done now instead of later. This also forces scum to pick a kill and let us reap all the benefits of the info. WITHOUT the scum being able to use a lynch as a framing tool if a lynch on an active voice occurred.

Post 187, Para 1: My first impression is a subtle distancing with dreal. I mainly don't like the fact that that the way Jin i setting up his reads in a way that they can change quite easily. With Dreal, he says that normally he'd look scummy but he'll null him until he comes under heat. This reads to me as a set up to a bus if the situation arises.

Post 187, Para 3: To continue the idea that formulated in my head, here he said Mastin would have been a town lean but he's willing to not read town and say she's scum. I think again that it's just early game set up to allow him to sway his opinion on a player to follow what the town thinks so he doesn't come under much suspicion.

Post 187, Para 4: To answer Jin's question, he answers it in the prelude to giving the question. Jin specifically stated that he believed what Mastin was doing so the purpose of asking if Mastin's post being genuine or fabricated has me puzzled.

Post 187, Para 5: This paragraph, I don't believe in because Mastin's reasoning is basically focusing on Nacho as the main threat and if he's not scum, then ergo Mastin is scum. That's a dangerous gambit to put oneself as scum and makes her the center of attention. I don't doubt that Mastin can handle being center of attention as scum but she's right in saying that as scum, it's not smart to make yourself prime lynching material.

Post 208: I'm looking at this post as a reason to not give a definitive statement as to what he thinks about Mastin's alignment. You can attempt to come to the conclusion that she's town for saying to lynch her on D2 if she's wrong or push an angle that it's scum making it all for info manipulation latter down the road. Either way, either option has to sound better in your mind and not giving a statement about what you actually think is continuous fence sitting like I've pointed out earlier.

I apologize, i thought i conveyed my thoughts well in the post. Basically, Mastina'a posts to me don't tell us if she is town and doing a lot of work to game solve early or if she is scum and is doing a lot of work to set up the days how she wants them to play out. All that her posts so far tell us is that she is putting tons of information out in order to be able to cherry pick things from those posts later to pair with what people do, be that pro-town actions or anti-town actions i have no clue. She is brilliant though because you better bet that no matter happens, those posts will be used, be it If she herself returns to them or everyone else combs through them once there is a flip or two.

So Pine, like, are you trying to keep him alive by making us think you want him lynched and then we think he is town because you would never say to lynch your own team but you actually did pick him for your team? Or are you trying to get him lynched by saying to lynch him which we think is actually your attempt to save a scum member so we would consider him town and then we actually lynch him because we would say you knew we would townread him for what you did but actually we scumread him and my brain exploded.

What does Pine gain from saying he wants a Nacho lynch actually say? I think Pine knows we would townread Nacho for that so he said it because he actually wants us to scumread Nacho but we are smarter than to fall for Pine's trap and he knows that so he thinks we will townread Nacho when we actually need to scumread nacho.

If town, they're coming from a paranoid perspective; the reason why I wanted you to get in SAJ's shoes and keep your own paranoia on mastina in mind is because "town who is just paranoid as hell" is the narrative if SAJ is town here. If he's scum, he's incapable of taking a stance on anything which would surprise me (he seemed to take stances just fine when we played together), but it would also be strange to me because I'd expect that Pine would at least do some light advising for his scumteam and "waffle like an insane person" doesn't seem to be the direction he would be given. I bring up Pine in particular but the bolded in the second post is a remarkably shallow comment and weird interaction for someone who would be trying to plan out Pine interactions.

Whenever people are like "hi! we're all town!", people left out. It's no fun to play a game where there's a central "cool kids group" and you're not involved, which is something that can happen pretty easily with townblocks. If possible, I want to give every opportunity for people to prove themselves as town, and, most importantly, I don't want to tunnel someone to a meltdown. So when Monokuma was making the "suck a dick" posts, I was worried that they weren't having fun/that they were pissed off and I wanted to fix that if I could in any way possible.

Does this make sense?

It is too early for me to figure anything out.

This post is a similar mindset to Jin's "I have absolutely no fucking clue what's going on earlier"; you're absolutely right that he gets into posting real stances a lot quicker in this game even while lost.

Something that I find useful is the level of conviction he manages in that game; there's no weird waffley "oh I know nothing but one of these people is scum" bullshit and he definitely manages pushes in a way here that he hasn't managed as scum.

At the end of the day I want to give him room because I see how he could be town but his approach to Mastin and me fits his scum game to a T and he's definitely not hitting his town vibe.

And EXTREME APATHY in this game definitely makes sense if he also got that scum roll in URW and didn't really want to be scum.

From my very limited experience with him, he also seemed like the type that was far more genuine as scum; he didn't try to get himself townread through gimmicks and randomposting, he had far more of an approach of "let's do our best and kill this game!!". Again, this is just from one scum QT and one scum game, but the drealmer that I was partnered with that game certainly wasn't this one; if he's scum, he's banking on a town clear though shittalking Pine (which could be a Pine coach, but coaching can only go so far) and he's doing a pretty good job of it.

So, what your saying here is that you think as scum, Dreal is more inclined to to say things "cautiously," bad word to say but I think you'll understand, in that he wants to make sure people don't get annoyed with his slot, but actually like him.

The other piece of drealmer is he gets bored quickly and complains when days aren't ending quickly enough.
It's part of the "burn out" aspect - he loves games when they're shiny and new but when that initial luster wears off it's incredibly hard to build that motivation up again.

First off, Pisskop was the beginning slot, he started out the game and continued the pattern of fluffing and frivolous shit posting. When he did post, there wasn't reasoning attached to it, all of them were baseless and were said to just be said.

It also doesn't help that the slot replacement, Ari can't play scum to save his life, in essence making it a suicide slot. The quotes I put in a spoiler, and really they are all his ISO, is literally no game contribution and doesn't address anyone game related.

Also a quick VCA is that scum will disperse their votes to hide in the crowd, so there will be 1/2 in the main wagons and 1/2 in a slot that's been voted once or they are the only vote. Now, looking at the babywagons that happened in D1, the beginning started with dreal and Fate.

Looking at that, Pisskop gave a weak reason which was really a hesitant question more than accusation and put his vote on dreal. The vote only moved from dreal to Fate and this occurred when Pisskop said, Fate was his top scum read, but again, there was no explanation attached to it, essentially making it a naked vote because it is knowingly implied that if you vote someone, it is because you think they are scum.

I am almost 100% confident that Pisskop has been staying off of the main wagons to avoid any serious attention and shitpost so you think to just ignore him.

Also, you are claiming Ari can be read entirely through meta. I doubt there is anyone who can be read instantly through meta alone. This is your only Ari case in the last few pages. I can list your main points:

-Pisskop posting little content. This is not something which makes someone obvscum. In fact, Pisskop was probably posting little content because he didn't have time for this game, which is why he replaced.
-Ari being allegedly bad as scum. You could say that Ari is scummier as scum, but that is meta. Meta is not useless, but it cannot make someone obvTown or obvscum.
-The VCA. VCA is generally unreliable (though possible, it is very weak) in Day 1 with no flips at all.
-Pisskop giving next to no explanation for moving votes. I can see your point and this could add to a scumread, but this does not make someone obvscum. Even added together, these points may make someone a weak to moderate scumread, but not obvscum and definitely not confscum. (Unless you are a Day Cop, but I highly doubt that)

If it's a genuine belief that you have a strong scum game and people wouldn't pick up on it, then I don't think that you'd be in the position talking about how impossible it would be to catch you when you've already been caught. It's not a strong read because the reason you wouldn't say something like that is because it feels silly as hell doing it and usually falls flat but I certainly see where Cakez is coming from with that.

Starting off with his first post, I picked out the parts that stood out to me. I have to agree with Vax here that in the beginning, I saw it as a distancing move with dreal and Pine, what are your thoughts on this quote?

BUT dreal is a good player as well, and this seems like distancing. I see dreal put alot of emotion when trying to convince people in his arguments.

I don't know their history, but Dreal is a decent player generally. I do think he'd distance from Pine. I don't read it as such though. He is making it too obvious to be real distancing I think.

I di agree that Dreal way exaggerated Nacho's "scumming it up" as I don't believe he had even had 2 posts at this time. It's a good observation. Nacho would also be one that Pine would want discredited early, as he is a fantastic player. So I definitely could buy it here.

I'm new here, but I've heard the name nacho before, so its not like hes some newbie-scum that is afraid to post.

I'm conflicted on it. I like that he's pointing it out. It's likely he has heard nacho's name thrown around. I know I did well before I ever played with him. He is talked about. I also like him calling out the unfair push on Nacho. It is part of why I scumread Mastina at the beginning. Because I just didn't see where any of it was coming from and it looked like a really opportunistic push.

What I don't like about it is that it doesn't actually take a stance. It's merely a fact post. Like "you are wrong because..." not "your pushing this is scummy because..."
It's a small distinction, but it does make a big difference sometimes.

Like I say, it gives me pause, but I do like that he called it out.
If he's scum, it'd be ballsy (though one must be in a game with this caliber of player in it).

On my first read through of the first few pages I missed. I was left of the opinion that mastina was game solving. But re-reading through I missed parts of thier posts taht I do not like.

On the posts he linked: The first one is bad, I totally agree. It was a bad idea to start a 1v1. Easy as that. Easy opinion.

The two where she was "crying about not being picked" were pretty standard "let me fill you in" posts, and the 2 "incomprehensible" ones were standard for Mastina. I know he probably has no experience on which to base this, but it's true, and I think it should have been deducible by that point.

I dislike the shit flinging and backing down at the end of the post. It all read a little weak and wishy washy, but to wnd it with "town-lite" seems like a cop out. Like an "I'm supposed to scumread you but I have to ease into it" kinda read.

Also, I hate that he called his Dreal "push" a death tunnel in multiple posts. It wasn't a death tunnel. It was barely a tunnel. It was a push and a read (barely). Overstating it was unneeded and reinforcing that overstatement just is weird. Too peculiar for my liking.

The first two linked posts are Meta reasons which, though weak, do have reasons to them. I like that he is scrutinizing strong players, but I wonder if he knows howstrong they are.
I don't like that he didn't link any "misinformation" and also that he accused Fate of not reading the thread at the same time. Like, the two kind of contradict each other, and there is no evidence provided for the former. He could have had a much more solid case had he put that effort in.

The links (4 succeeding posts) where Fate didn't answer him just sound butthurt on his part, but don't really strengthen a scumread.

His quote section is shit tbh. He is being nitpicky as fuck, and none of it is actually scummy. If you just assume Fate has an ego, all of this makes sense and is pretty much NAI.
The "super rehearsed joke" was NAI. The fighting for a position in the draft was NAI. Asking if Camn could sway the game was obviously not a real question, and thus NAI.

I am getting far more "Pine interactions" reads than I thought I would originally, but here's another Pine interactions read.
I liked that he was coaching the coach and don't think the coach would coach him to coach the coach, and I love that the sentence I just created makes sense.

I'm going to give credit where credit is due and say I see this post lining up with what I see in you. I remember earlier you bitched at Pine for sucking at being a guilty child and you coached him.

This post looks bad. If Mastina scumreads Aeronaut then the pro-Town thing to do would be to try to explain it. It is easy for scum to do this in order to defer giving reasoning because you know your reasoning will be under scrutiny.I consider this likely as I myself did it in Open 642 and came under a lot of pressure for it.

BTD6 certainly gets town points for pushing Mastina; I don't think that someone who "defers giving reasoning because said reasoning will be under scrutiny" as scum is likely to join in and maintain mastin hatred.

Looking into this post, it now reminds me what you said earlier about Cakez town reading me. It's that he brings up "what I'd do as scum" as an example and relates it to Mastin. This sounds weird to say but I don't see a scum punishing a player using their personal meta. I see it more as a townie trying to put his feet in a scums shoes to see what "a scum would do" in the situation.

Your reasoning is flawed. It can be used to explain that it is more likely that Pine picked optimal picks but not guarantee it. What stops someone from entering the WIFOM game and then coming to the conclusion that Pine made WIFOM picks?

I have to say that I think BTD6 scumreading mastina because "she's wrong with how Pine made picks" and "she didn't elaborate on her read" is bananas reasoning; don't have the experience with him to make a judgement call on alignment, though.

Is Mastina confirmable? I do not know for sure. If Mastina is scum, it would be trivial to claim to recruit a partner. We should wait for a while until Day 2 or 3 (probably 3) and seeing if Mastina dies or not (although scum may gambit by not killing Mastina). For now, I think I will let Mastina live.

I also liked mastina paranoia along the lines of BTD6 talking about Mastina recruiting a partner and then the town not managing to lynch her or her partner; unfortunately my reason for liking it is nothing more than "feels genuine", but it feels genuine.
