Hello! I started reading yesterday as I was in the replacement queue. Finished page 11 this morning. Y'all need more wagons, but I think Chara's a pretty safe bet for town. By most recent VC it seems something has changed but w/e. The run up on Vax seems really forced, which is strange because the runup on Dunnstral was done really well. I think I'm going to look for the differences in those when I finish reading.

Here it seems like he was trying to have a presence without actually making a meaningful contribution anywhere. This continues for 18 pages until Chara and AJ call him out for his vote on a non-existent slot (interestingly, Chara only scumread/voted me for this in one of her opening posts and seemingly ignored PV). He then immediately reverts to this behavior until here, which is likely just his response to being pressured by Papa Zito and Gamma. I don't know if he legitimately believes in a NotChara/AJ scumteam or if he's just reiterating the concerns that have already been expressed by others.

I've only seen two mentions of Aj's slot in Chara's posting. The first was here where she said she thought our votes on the Malachite slot was weird. The second time was here where she indicated that she could see AJ as scum whiteknighting her.

AJ, on the other hand, has mentioned a strong townread or defended her on multiple occasions: 415, 427, 562, 584, 596, 601, 639, 641, 647, 849. 645 and 649 were deflections directly related to his townread on Chara. 708 was an attack on a player that voted Chara. 715 was a direct response to a question you posed to him about Chara. This means that 14/18 of his posts mentioned Chara or were related to his read on Chara in some way. None of his other posts indicate an interest in anything unrelated to her.

What about AJ's townread of Chara makes sense to you? Why do (did) you think there's a likely team between the two? And why does the bolded matter considering Chara has never stated a townread on AJ?

Lots of people who play mafia tend to townread people who "protect" them (see this site, for example). In 257, Chara, calls out the votes on the AJ slot. As one of the top items of interest when she replaced in. I can see AJtown seeing this as defending him, and thus make Chara a town read. I can see AJscum calling his scumbuddy or townChara a townread for doing it.

What is hard for me to see is why townChara makes many of the posts she did (682).

Why do I think they are a likely team? Because of Chara calling out the votes on AJ/Malachite. Why bother, unless she had a read on the slot?
And AJ does townread the slot for that. Which I think AJtown knows better.
And Chara suddenly says AJ could be scum(659), but is still voting ThinkBig (273).

I personally think whiteknighting is overrated. It requires a townread that sum have to flip to a scumread at some point if they ever hope to mislynch. Especially so with thinkBig, since they couldn't shoot him.

I think that people that try to push their opinions by implying how obvious their opinions SHOULD be by the tone of their posts and by deriding/insulting other player's comments and questions in the game are more likely to be scum trying to push the perceptions of other players in a direction they'd like than them being town generally being asshats and trying to look superior to the other players in the game.
And there are players that it's more likely to be a component of their playstyle than a scumtell for them specifically - MoI is someone who immediately comes to mind.
But I think it's a solid scumtell in general AND I've seen you do it as scum before. Us being scum together when you did it isn't really a big part of that.

I'm well aware of how Boon plays as I've been avoiding him since his first Newbie game on this site.

I'm still having trouble seeing it. I think wanting to avoid a quick, relatively information-less lynch is a common concern for most townies. Although it can just as easily be faked by scum, I liked his kneejerk vote in response to Super subtly egging him on to hammer the vote. If there was anything that pointed me towards a scum-Boon, it would be this post where he takes a strange double position on the wagon. But even then, it just looks like a bait to me.

- I had a conversation with him pages back, and I see where he was coming from. I don't feel scum Fro99er would have anything to gain from backing off of me like he did. I gave him reasons he could exploit to push, and he didn't.

Vifam

- He's either super focused town or super focused scum. Either way, he's doing pretty well, I'd say, as I'm leaning towards town. On the watch list for later reevaluation, but most everything he's posted has seemed pretty off the top of the head in a genuine way. I understand his reads, even towards Not Chara.

Not Chara

- Maybe it's gut, maybe it's the fact they brought up my avatar in a positive manner, but in the small amount of posts, Not Chara is coming across town like to me. Not enough for a full read, but a safe read. I like 275.

Vaxkiller

- Feels like he's really trying to figure this game out. Gammagooey points out that he thinks that vax has the worst posts of anyone here which I think is just not true. Desperado would probably fit that bill. Nonetheless, Vax hasn't had anything that sticks out to me as scummy. Even though I'm leaning town on both Gooey and Vax, I'm probably wrong on one of them; I don't know which one of them I am wrong about yet. Until more is said, I like most of vaxkiller's posts.

Gammagooey

- He really hasn't actually done much. In 410 he brings the fact that voting GIF is better than anything else he's doing, which seems like typical lost, trying, but failing Day 1 town. I don't agree with his 285, but I at least understand where he's coming from in regards to his Super read.

PeregrineV

- Hasn't had a major presence this game, but nothing is seeming scummy. Seems like he's been biding his time and watching carefully to pounce on someone.

ThinkBig

- Nothing to say really. He went on VLA, and before that just spraying facts instead of insight. But it was first few pages so meh.

Superhans

- Y'all have seen how I've thought of super, and after looking over everything, it has changed a bit. He's troll-like, but sometimes I see it as too ballsy of a playstyle to be scum as. Then again, I used to be trolllike as well as scum, which is why I'm trying to not use meta anymore as a source of defense/offense. Super has turned into complete null as I have no idea what to think of hans.

GuyInFreezer

- Really not a lot on this guy. He's posted little, but he's made sure that people know he's been here. Also, everything that he has said has had very little substance. Not sure about a lot, iffy on committing to reads, but it's Day 1, so that's not necessarily suspicious. Watchful eye will be needed.

Aj the epic

- Not much to say about this yet. His entrance into this game seems a little "naturally forced", if that makes sense. I feel he can potentially control the game if he ends up being scum.

Brian Skies

- I don't really feel he's doing or saying anything, but he is making sure he is there to make it seem like he does. I am gut scum reading him, but holding back a little because I see him as a player who needs more information to hit his stride, so he isn't my strongest scum read at the moment. I expect on the next read chart for this to change into me pushing him hard, or me solidly town reading him.

Desperado

- I may be a little biased here since he has been soft pushing me, but he's all over the place. Some parts of his play make me want to town read him, like, I understood why he voted me at the time, but scum would have just as easily pushed for that. Hmu when he does something of note.

Dunnstral

- I can see everything he's been saying from a town perspective, but I can also REALLY see everything he's doing from a scum perspective. I actually really dislike his stances here, as he has a high count for lynch candidates, and he doesn't take a definitive stance anywhere, even setting himself up in a position where he can change his townier reads into a scum read on a whim. Because of multiball, I still think scum was on his wagon, but I will ignore that until more info has been revealed. I find it funny how I was trying to stop this wagon earlier only to come to this. Blinded by the potential quick lynch, I guess.

We won that game. Case of missing Dr Pepper. Phone posting, don't feel like going to find the link. If I was Brian's partner, and I wanted to show my town read, I would have at least fabricated some kind of reasoning. Scum theatre is one of my strong suits as scum.
