It's been 4 whole days since I posted a setup! (Well, I mean, normal setups...) This is TOO LONG!

Mountain Mafia

9 townies
3 scum

Nightstart. The scum kill one townie every night. Once the number of scum equals the number of townies, all townies die. If 2 days pass and no one is killed, the game goes to the town. Lynches are mandatory. The mafia may not reveal their fellow mafiosos.

Oh, by the way, only one scum can win, and the game goes to the town if more than one scum remains at the ned of the game.

Basically, only one mafia member can win, so to win they have to get their partners lynched.

I don't know what is more retarded: that you think mafia need special incentive not to out each other (who can win doing that?), or that you think the way to give them this incentive is to have a mod-enforced ban on the behavior.

With the mafia members not really on the same team, but with great ability to harm each other, I would be pretty surprised if town lost this.

In addition, that setup needs a wildly different name, because it's very different from Mountainous Mafia. DonnerMafia, maybe?

Donner Party Mafia!

1 Mafia Goon
1 Cannibal Mafia Goon
1 Cannibal SK
1 Cannibal Vig (townie)
2 Masons
1 Cop
5 Townies

Each body (which reveals alignment and role) from a NK goes to the cannibal that kills the the victim. If a Cannibal kills another Cannibal that Cannibal will take all of the bodies belonging the victim Cannibal. When a Cannibal is lynched the town will also find all of the bodies belonging to that Cannibal, revealing the alignments and roles of those victims.

Also, because everyone needs to eat, a vote of
no lynch
is not allowed.

Rofl. I thought she'd misspelt dinner and had an image of some of the guests getting so impatient waiting for food that they took matters into their own hands.

it is on the wiki now. I'm going to get this setup accepted, or at least try really hard.

Dinner Party is better...

A dinner party... ruined by the fact that some present are the dinner!

I like it, in a sadistic sort of way.

I`d advocate Electoral College as a Themed Game, NN, since the mechanic is quite wildly different.

Adel, it`s not really balanced, since the town won`t know anything about the dead until a cannibal dies, and because the cannibals will find out about the alignments of others first. This is a major major scum advantage.

The Masons are a rather unnecessary addition to the setup.

They will know the lynchees's alignments, as far as I can tell, which is something.

It isn't that much of a disadvantage.

Eh, we should continue this discussion in Adel's thread.

This might be no good at all, it literally just popped into my head.

Target Mafia

3 mafia
3 targets
12 vanilla townies

Targets and townies are on the same side and all receive the vanilla townie PM. The mafia knows the identity of all 3 targets. If a target gets lynched, the mafia is allowed to make two nightkills that night. The numbers are open to change as I'm not really sure of balance.

I'd like to see a smaller version of that, but Target Mafia sounds like an interesting idea. It would add another dimension to finding scum without drastically altering the game.

Maybe:

2 mafia
2 targets
8 vanilla townies (?)

I've been trying to decide whether town/scum ratio should be the same as for pure vanilla or whether the targets give scum a significant advantage.

I think that this is an interesting idea. The targets give the scum a big advantage, but the temptation to go for the targets might give them away... Still, it is a big advantage for the scum in a Mini game.

2 Mafia vs. 10 Townies has always resulted in a Mafia win on this site, although most people would say that it is balanced. I think that both the set-ups posted by Patrick would be imbalanced in favour of the scum.

I think the second setup is probably good...

The lyncherish mechanic should help the town find something to discuss, which seems to me can be a difficulty in vanilla games...

Alternatively, don't give scum an NK
unless
a target is lynched.

Yeah, Kelly's solution about NKs might help, or I was thinking that the Targets could have some sort of Bomb choice; if they're lynched, they choose whether or not to blow up their lyncher. Might be a mistaken townie, might be scum looking for an additional kill....

In general though, I'm against these Lyncher games where scum only go after certain people. What if they're not acting in a scummy manner?
