it’s when you mostly talk by reusing phrases other people said. it’s easier than making your own sentences. but it takes a while to get a good collection so that the things you are saying make sense in context.
edit: immediate echolaelia is when you repeat stuff you just heard. i use that for communication too, but mostly in real time conversations. The failure mode of clever is asshole.

Oh I see, it has to be verbatim. Well as I see it, that's what the quote button is for. I will admit to using the same type of arguments that some has used elsewhere that I have been a part of. No idea what that is though.I was anything worse than you! Anything worse than you was I!

i think it’s a similar thing anyway. it’s a good tactic sometimes. i like to see what kinds of things people say in response to other things people said, and then later if i’m in a similar situation then i can borrow someone else’s words. not with the quote button because it would take too long to go find someone else’s exact post, just from memory. person a did x, person b said y (and they were right). i think person c is doing x, so i say y too.The failure mode of clever is asshole.

That actually makes complete sense to me. I just usually will paraphrase because I'm bad at remembering the exact wording. I do usually understand concept that is used though. So like, I will see where an argument ends before it does if the circumstances are relatively similar. I will also omit arguments altogether if I find it over the top predictable. I don't like to wast my time with stuff that is obvious, but sometimes it has to be done anyways...I was anything worse than you! Anything worse than you was I!
