“Why was I chosen?'
'Such questions cannot be answered,' said Gandalf. 'You may be sure that it was not for any merit that others do not possess. But you have been chosen, and you must therefore use such strength and heart and wits as you have.”
This was by far my favorite character to make, just because 3.5 is so expanded compared to 5E. I will say it took significantly longer, however...

Should I wait until the first session I join to do so, or just go ahead and ask any time I see any of them online?

Who is in charge of party funds and equipment, and he should be able to tell you what we can afford.
I think you should place any item requests here in this thread ahead of time, but waiting until your first session is fine too. You can also probably find one of us in site chat or in the Scummers D&D site chat room.
If so it can all be handled here, otherwise I would like to wait until your first session before handing out party funds just to make sure you don't pull a Jackel.
We can afford quite a bit. What equipment do you want? We can definitely afford full plate in case you want that. (It's a knight thing, right?)
Who said that?
Chamber. It's all a conspiracy.
Or is it?
But yeah. Hmm... Full Plate would be nice. And maybe a masterwork longsword.

Wowwie. That took a long time just setting up 1 macro. But then again, I didn't discover the joy of the wiki until about halfway through.
That wiki is WAY more useful for finding information than the pdf versions of the books.

Be careful when using the dandwiki. It's generally correct, but I've seen some weird shit certain players put up there to use as evidence in arguments with their DMs.
I generally found the website dndtools to be highly accurate and useful.
These pages have the description from the book verbatim. I'm not using it to better understand anything, just to find stuff quickly.

Man, this side of the site is so much more peaceful than the actual Mafia part.
