Unfortunately, since FWTJR took Roslin and Ani took Starbuck, Boomer is not a valid selection. Magua must select a Military Leader or the Chief.
One time, back in 'nam, Sudo was set upon by an entire squadron of charlies. He challenged them all to a game of Pictionary, which he won resoundingly. The charlies were forced to not only surrender the skirmish, but also their world-famous chili recipe, which Sudo sold to Texas for a hefty profit. Sudo is a master of diplomacy.

They first three picks have to balance out in group so you would have to be a military leader or Galen, forcing the last pick to be military.

Basically, yes. So- FWTJR took a Political Leader and Ani took a Pilot; thus, nobody can take a Political Leader or a Pilot until somebody takes a Military Leader.

Why? I suppose it can be put to a vote, but I'm not sure I'm understanding what the actual problem here is.

Because I don't particularly want to play a military leader.

If neither Bipolar or Aegon want to play a military leader, then I will, but if either of them wants to then I'd rather they do.

(Also annoyed at a system that allows 4th or 5th player more choice of characters and more types than 3rd, but that's mostly tangential.)

If it helps, I'm willing to rescind my pick, and move myself to go last and take whatever is left so that Magua can be Boomer if he wants. At that point pretty much no one would be able to be Lee, but the next pick could choose pretty much whoever they wanted (except Lee) and we go from there if that makes sense. I want to throw this out here as an option, especially if it gets things going.

I own this game and have played as all the characters at least once so I don't really care who I play as that much and would be willing to play as anybody.

I don't want to be
more of a
the dick here. If Aegon (or whoever is going to take Aegon's slot) doesn't want to play a military leader, I'll take Helo. I just think the method specified in the rulebook of limiting character picks is terribad, which is likely why I've never, ever, ever used it. =P

I'd really prefer to stick to the rulebook and stay in the pregenerated order, but I'm willing to allow people to change picks, if it makes them happy.

We'll just proceed with 4; that should be fine. Loyalty cards are going out; pick your skills when you get it!

We're waiting for everyone to pick their skills. I've decided to take a more relaxed approach, but I'm going to start prodding people if I don't get responses.

I discard Consolidate power strength 1 and and Executive Order strength 1 to activate my location and draw a quorum card

I will wait until I discover what the card is before deciding to play one or draw another.
