Choose a role Mafia


12 players, Day start.


Each player gives me a role, a descrition, and a player who he/she wants to give the role too If someone gets 2+, then they get to choose someone who doesn't have a role yet to give it to, etc, untill everyone has a role. At this point, I will place all the roles down (if there is too many mafia, then I will tell some people to make a town/3rd party role, same goes for town, but 3rd party is optional, and has a max of 2 roles.)

Players then confirm, and continue as normal.

So on round 1 are there no roles assigned? Or are they assigned prior to D1 start?

Yeah, uPick used to be a common variant on scumchat and several forum games have been played successfully in the model, but it's not really anything like an 'Open Setup'.
Retired as of October 2014.

Then would this be mini Normal or mini Theme?

I'd rather a mini normal, because I can't mod a mintheme atm (I think)

Player A: Make B the cop.
Player B: Make A the cop.
Player C: Make B the cop.
Player D: Make B the cop.
Player E: Make C the cop.
Player F: Make C the cop.

Therefore: B is the cop? Or it's now between B and C?

A,B and C would be cops.

B & C would say to give role X (i this case cop) to either D or E.

I weould have made 1 person change their role to make it a scum role, though.

The only issue I sort of have with this is that the Mimes investigate innocent. Sort of makes it if you find one "innocent" between the two cops that they can't win. Plus three kills out there for effectively a lover-scum group, makes it seem like they're really underpowered.

Maybe only one investigates innocent the other investigates guilty? Like a Drama/Comedy Mime. Drama Mime investigates guilty, Comedy Mime investigates innocent?

Maybe make it more interesting where the Cops are Comedy Cop and Drama Cop, so that the Drama Cop finds the Drama Mime innocent and the Comedy Mime guilty while the Comedy Cop finds the Drama Mime guilty and the Comedy Mime innocent.

I agree with this part but am uncertain of best fix

Mime's would be like a loser mafia group.

I think that game would be better if the following occurred: and make 1 player a day vig, ergo if one person is non-nkable then they must be killed during day

2 Mimes (1 GF (turns up guilty), 1 Non-NKable)

Make one mime a doctor, and if that's not enough the other a roleblocker.

The doctor effectively has a bulletproof partner unless he dies first. But if his bulletproof partner is lynched, it gets interesting, he can start using his protects to just stall the game (he loses if the last scum is NKed and there are other uses that might come up for the protect).

That sounds like more than enough help to me, but a role block is an option too.

That's just a bullet-proof roleblocker mime. They're lovers, so making a doctor is odd.

you die at night IF AND ONLY IF (you are shot at and you don't shoot at yourself) OR (you shoot at yourself and you are not shot at by anyone else) OR (you shoot at someone else who shoots at himself)

maybe make all night targets public or add more townies?

no, it's not the same. If the non-doc mime dies by lynching, then the other is no longer NK protected. The roleblocker was a possible thing for the other mime, not necessary.

Remember, they are only lovers if they die by NK (otherwise they can't win, ever)

reading the mime game I agree with shaft. I think it needs a few more tweaks for it to be balanced.
Sarcasm is just a way of saying how stupid you think someone is but in a more polite way.
