Quag, from the game we played (which I watched the replay later). here are my hints.
Right now, you need to "automate" the things that can be easily automated: for instance, you can rally your nexus to the mineral line, so that when you produce a probe, it goes directly to mining without you needing to look at it. You can also hotkey multiple buildings (like gateways) to the same number to produce from all of them at the same time (I know that for protoss this gets obsolete with warp tech, but I'm sure it works for other buildings like robo. There are probably other things, but this is what I remember the most, and I believe in the "one improvement at a time" routine.
It has been a while since I saw that replay, but I will take another look at it and comment more. If you want to post other replays, I would certainly watch them too. If other people want to see this replay, it is in the BSL thread.
As for your first suggestion, I have that down pat. However, hotkeying multiple buildings into one hotkey? How to do that?
Here is one of my shittier games I've played. I don't have a midgame strategy after my early 3gate attempt failed, so I got run over by stalkers and wasn't spending my minerals. Be frank and tell me how much I suck and where I suck the most.
My few cents: Basically, a 3 gate proxy isn't very strong from my own experience. If you get 3 gates, you might as well get that 4th and make it a 4gate. To be honest, your transition wasn't terrible. The only thing I'd say would be to choose a robo bay or stargate to tech, not both (at least at that point, later on it really doesn't matter). Also, if you go for Colossi, research and chrono boost extended thermal lance from the robo bay. It really is a must have for the colossi. Fill your army with a good chunk of stalkers and sentries, and start some upgrades from the forge as soon as you can afford it.
Thats what comes to mind from me, inb4diamond corrects me.
Quag after about 3 minutes into the game you were already behind on probes, they should be constantly produced until you take a third base. Also, like Flame said don't do a crappy version of a 4-Gate, either do it or don't. Expanding to the high yield wasn't a bad idea, but if you had been producing probes you could have transfered some to fully saturate it quicker. Also, why did you decide to get stargates after seeing that your opponent was going for a stalker heavy build, nothing that comes out of a stargate will do well against stalkers. You should have transitioned into immortals and stalkers. Thats all I saw in my x4 viewing of the replay.

Thanks for the feedback y'all. Back to the AI drawing board for a few days, or even a couple weeks... I'm moving to Minneapolis next weekend, so I'm going to have to take quite a bit of time off sc2 to pack and move my stuff. And then I'll have to wait for Comcast to install internet.
Overlords on 9, not 10. Though I think that's the least of my worries hehehe. Fucking larva injects and especially creep spread oh my god my creep spread sucks. And generally my macro too. But many drones were made, and some enemies were vanquished! Particularly if they weren't protoss on steppes of war. Ouch.
Tomorrow I'mma try out toss. I think I shall four gate. EVERYONE.
