As the group rested for a few minutes in the entrance to the mines, paranoia began to set in. Some were claiming they could feel a breeze coming from within the mountain, almost as if it were breathing. Others thought they heard a low throbbing, like a large heartbeat, coming from inside the walls. Neither the captain nor the hooded man heard or felt anything, and while they tried to stem the paranoia, there were more volunteer militia members in the group than trained soldiers, and the paranoia and panic spread like wildfire. One man commented on how the flames of the torch were only flickering one way, supporting the breathing mountain theory, then another commented on how only someone who knew the truth about these mines would know to look at the flames, while a different man commented on how the flame-watcher's eyes were glassy, like his eyes were unfocused and tearing up, almost like he were possessed.

That comment was the tipping point. The word 'possessed' set the crowd off, and even the captain and the hooded man were feeling uneasy about the group. The accused man claimed he just had some dust in his eye, that these mines were old and filled with dust left over from the miners smashing everything to bits, but his words fell on deaf ears. Before the captain or the hooded man could even blink, the mob had grabbed the man's limbs, holding him horizontally and pulling him in all directions. He screamed in panic, but the scream was cut short by two men tearing off his shirt and driving a dagger through his heart. By the time the captain and the hooded man could push aside the crowd and reach the man, he had already been dropped to the ground, dead. The hooded man knelt down beside the body, and gently pressed another of his talismans onto the corpse's forehead. Nothing happened. The crowd was almost as silent as the forest behind them as they waited. Waited for something, anything to happen. After half a minute, the hooded man sighed, and closed the corpse's eyes.

As lone as it's 6 - 3 and the mason's DEAD, the game can be forced to a draw, which I think is the safest option if we ever reach that scenario.
Mason has to die though because getting shot there = gg town.

So today: mason claims, gets lynched or shot, draw.
OR we can for glory and stuff and hit scum, but if we hit a VT game's probably all but over.

The group trudged on in somber silence after that sobering experience. There was little the captain could do to boost morale, and at this point he had simply given up trying. He just hoped that when the time came, the remaining men would be willing to do what had to be done. The mine shaft wound deeper and deeper into the earth, and with each passing step the captain felt he was moving closer and closer to a totally alien world. The only light here came from the torches the men were holding.

After a certain depth, the tunnel was completely covered in a bizarre red substance. It felt organic to the touch, and the captain explained it away as a type of cave moss, but deep down he knew better. Yes, moss was squishy like this substance, but moss wasn't stretchy or sinewy like the tissue covering the walls was. Deep down, the captain personally thought it closely resembled pig meat; even the red colouring, with odd streaks of different shades all running in roughly the same direction, matched the look of pig meat. Just to be on the safe side, the captain pressed the silver amulet against the substance covering the walls, but nothing happened. While it was creepy as Hell and had the appearance of walking down an esophagus, the tunnel itself seemed safe, and completely inert. The real danger, the captain thought to himself as the group continued on, is that this substance muffles footsteps, which meant those corrupted humans would have an even easier time sneaking up behind them in the narrow tunnels.
