The big deal is you are lying about your role.Antihero wrote:WTF is the big deal about this? I have a feeling I was told this just because it fits in with the occupation I was given in the role PM.[i]The hungry maw of Twilight snaps, but shall not have its fill,

I don't know, maybe you came up with a pre-emptive fake claim and got over-enthusiastic with it. It doesn't matter why, though: what matters is that the claim is a lie, which means you're scum. QED.Antihero wrote:Why would I say what I said unprovoked if I were scum?

I said what I said because it's the only part of my damn role!
Don't dodge the question, scumbag.And... he retreats into WIFOM and playing dumb. Heh.
Preview: Yes, because claiming to be vanilla+knowledge of no jester would really help me avoid a lynch. The distance between insanity and genius is measured only by success.-

This is a slightly unusual situation. Normally, it's bad play for a player to claim before first addressing the arguments against them to exhaustion, and only claiming as a precaution before lynching - and under those (overwhelmingly normal) conditions what you're saying is perfectly correct.Ythill wrote:There shall be no fullclaims before L-1 + hammer waiting. If you're interested in reaching that point, a vote could help.
No reason to get ahead of ourselves.
Here, the argument against Antiheroishis claim, and in order to address the arguments, he must address his claim. That's a cathelet out of the bag.
If he's telling the truth, there's little difference whether he claims fully now or later, but allowing him to drip-feed details or giving him too much time to compose would be advantageous for him as scum. So, we don't give him time.[i]The hungry maw of Twilight snaps, but shall not have its fill,

Preview edit: Statistician, as townie in Outdoorsmen Mafia? Yeah, that's caught scum. Vote stays.Yes, my fake claim is Innocent Aligned with the Town win condition as per the mod's first post.-

@Seol:I see your point, but I still think the risk of giving scum rolehunting clues from a player we are not clearly willing to lynch outweighs the risk of giving Anti time to think about his claim. IME, scum can be caught because a lack of time makes a claim obv-fake, or because overthinking does. But whatever, it looks like Anti jumped the gun anyway, with no harm done.
That was a scum claim. Should we hang him now or use our remaining time to look for the rest of the mafia?Record:Town 10W/15LScum 4W/1LOther 2W/2LNewbie 1L

You're being awfully by-the-book today, aren't you!Ythill wrote:@Seol:I see your point, but I still think the risk of giving scum rolehunting clues from a player we are not clearly willing to lynch outweighs the risk of giving Anti time to think about his claim. I'd agree with you if it was an iffy role. It was a clear out-and-out lie, though, no room for doubt: risk/reward ratios got messed up by that, and whilst we can'timposea particular strategy in a given situation, there's nothing wrong with lobbying for it.[i]The hungry maw of Twilight snaps, but shall not have its fill,
