Cost logistics can be ironed out after this thing gets confirmed. Feeding a horde of people isn't difficult with a grill or fire pit, if you have one.

Also, Shea loves to don an apron and cook intricate dishes. Be sure to compliment his spice palate!
So high, so low, so many things to know.

We do, in fact, have a grill.

Parking's one thing we don't have a lot of, so if you're going to get a carpool, make it count. Public transportation around here is quite good, though. I can easily pick up anyone at the Port Authority in New York, and the train station is a few blocks away from that. There's also a route to Newark Airport, which I'm not as fluent with.

Yeah; I'd like to come, if I can. Not sure what kind of summer job I'll be getting this year, so we'll have to see. Malyss probably won't be coming this year though.

If I do come, I have the guitar hero stuff and karaoke stuff for the PS2, so I can bring that.

Does that mean "if it happens, it's that weekend", or are you literally saying sometime around as if it could happen during the week? 0_o

I wasn't 100% clear on the schedule when I posted that, and wanted to get a date out; I've since confirmed that the 14th is indeed when it's going to be. Having said that--while it's based around that weekend, it's definitely also going to run through some of the weekdays surrounding that, if you can stay. It will be a long meet, one that is certainly appealing enough for British 'Scummers to purchase plane tickets for.

Do you know yet if it will 'overhang' before the weekend, after the weekend, or both?

Nevermind. Just rememebered that's literally the only weekend of the summer I'm busy.

Hmmm. I'd probably be covert about this but take a chaperone of some sort (a friend who's technically above 18) and make a brief appearance midday on the Sunday of the meet, maybe a couple of hours. If it happens at all.

Well, hold on -

I move into my dorm on the 14th, but classes don't start until the 18th. I suppose I could drive up with Ythan after I'm moved in on the 14th, then drive back on the 17th, but that's quite a long drive for just a couple of days.

Is there not a later date possible at all? Even if it's more branching into the fall and not the Summer? The weekend of the 14th is LITERALLY the only time I couldn't do it - any weekend after that, I could come Thurs through Tues.

I'm camping in Jay, NY the weekend of the 14th.
I'm going to a cousin's wedding (and then starting school) on Labour Day weekend.

So I'm free anytime before Labour Day, other than the 14th.

Well, WCS I CAN just take the greyhound, but it's longer and more costly than a carpool.
Especially costly. Carpool makes it, what, 40~50$ top?
Greyhound is 140$...

@Sens:... and where do you think the meet is? <<

Ythan - would you be able to leave around the afternoon of the 14th? If I get all my shit moved in early enough (god what a chaotic day that's going to be) then I forsee me being free and ready to roll around noon or 2pm. That'd put us getting to Ether's anywhere from 9pm to 11pm. Also... I only have one class on Wednesdays and am tempted to e-mail the professor and tell them that I'll definitely be in the class, but I won't be able to make it the first day so that we can drive back Wednesday.

That puts our schedule like:
~8/14, 1:00PM - Leave Wilmington
~8/14, 11:00PM - Arrive at Ether's
~8/18, 1:00PM - Leave Ether's
~8/18, 11:00PM - Arrive back at Wilmington

PS: Gas is going to be about 90 bucks each way on the trip. So Ythan and I will each be paying 90 each it seems, unless there's someone else between NC & NJ who wants to carpool and have us pick them up.

No other weekend has as much flexible time
around
it. I'll look into what else is feasible and get back to you, but eh.

I was going to suggest Greyhound, but those Wilmington-NY trips are like 24 hours. That's insane.

That date is fine for me. But, I'll only be able to attend if I can fix my turn signals by then (unlikely).

What kind of flexible time are we looking at AROUND the 14th? As I said, I couldn't be there ON the 14th, but if it extended into the next week it's a possibility.

Re: food -

If you want cheap and easy, go for a fire pit or grill and grill burgers/hot dogs. Pretty simple and cost-effective. Everyone could pitch in for sandwich supplies for lunch, and breakfast could be eggs, toast, cereal, etc.

I can easily extend it into next week, as well as earlier into the previous week--that's why I like the 14th so much. Other times would be tougher to stretch in both directions.
