Honestly, I don't see any reason for officers in a guild the size of ours. You don't exactly need structure for the 8 people that play in the guild. We can all invite, we can all change public notes. What else do you want to do for fucks sake?

the issue i have is with the innate privilege structure - the one where we can't see if people above/below us are getting perks we aren't

if we can all invite, there is no reason to have any officers

if we can't, there is reason to either change that or have officers

if we can and there are officers, what do they get that we don't

there's also the thing of increased guild bank privileges

you see, i can only make 3 withdrawals per tab per day, but stuff like that can be changed with permission masks

i'd also argue that giving certain members of the guild a sort of private clubhouse within the guild itself is just as if not more worrying in the long-term as well

out of curiosity reck, who exactly have been made officers within the guild and who haven't? and what sort of privilege setup do you have set for them?

The only difference between officers and regular members is that officers can change the guild MOTD. Dram has a special rank with regular guild powers + unlimited withdrawals because he's always organizing the bank tabs into convenient setups.

Everyone can invite. I have it setup so that if we invite a newbie who invites all his friends they can't just raid the guild bank (hence when people are first invited, they are an Initiate, not a Member). Nobody that's actually been in the guild actively is an Initiate. The only thing about Veterans is that they can change guild info/message of the day. Everyone has 3 bank withdrawals per day. I'll up it if you want. 3 is the default and I never changed it.

More people should donate to the guild bank. We need like 1.25k more gold for that tab you guys said you wanted. I've already tossed in 500g, and am going to put in another 250 tonight, but that's not going to be enough.

@JD - While I appreciate you sticking up for me, you really don't have to, nothing I did when leaving the guild was bad in any way, in my opinion.

I felt leaving the guild to join another to progress was the best thing for me to do. People can have opinions either way on if that is bad or not. It's a GAME people. I play to enjoy myself, in Modus I was on a lot of the time and no one was on, no one to run stuff with me. Now I know that is not any of your fault, you have lives, as do I. I just happen to work odd hours and am on when most of you are sleeping, and am going to sleep just as you get on. I joined a guild that had more people in it, so there were more people on when I was, plus they had the numbers to do full guild 10-man runs (not 25-man as I'd prefer to get into one of the core groups) however, we were not even looking for new people. Yes you can get lucky and get a pug invite to a run like Kai did, however it is much easier to get into a guild and to signup for their runs.

Anyhow, I consider this dropped now. Any further posts referring to me leaving the guild, or calling me an asswipe or a dick will be ignored by myself, and I implore anyone who would wish to say anything on my behalf just ignore them as well, as to not keep the drama going.

You obviously don't see MY point. Having a guild rank (that you need to go out of your way to see, for what it's worth) that is essentially meaningless, silly fun, is no reason to throw a hissy fit and leave the guild right away. In fact, I remember all it took to change your guild note was to ASK. With how much time you spent bitching about it, and not actually doing anything about it, I wondered if you even wanted it to change or if you just wanted to bitch for the sake of bitching.

i was #3 or some insane thing like that for the week or so after i first started playing, which i thought was pretty funny

less than a day and a half before i should be able to join you guys again!

i think our next step needs to be to figure out what sort of a guild we want to be in the long-term

Though I think that's a bit overambitious for our guild until we have some solid numbers. I'm thinking something like this:

Guild Master

: Obviously, this will be me, since I have Guild Master control already. I take care of administrative things, deal directly with officer promotions, etc.

Untitled Council Position

: I would imagine this being a handful of people who take on "second-in-command" duties. They will have most, if not all, of the same powers as the Guild Master. We can assign each one to a special category, like one is in charge of the Guild Bank, one is in charge of recruitment, one is in charge of organizing guild events/heroic nights/raids/etc, you get the idea.

Veteran

: Someone who has been in the guild for a long period of time (aka all the Mafiascum members, and Brock) and has shown their dedication to the guild. They've gone above and beyond a normal member and are rewarded with more withdrawals from the guild bank.

Member

: A new recruit who has proven themselves past the two week trial period and is now allowed access to the guild bank (with set number of withdrawals per day).

Recruit

: Any new recruit must go through a two week waiting period as a Recruit before they can be advanced to member status. Recruits have no privileges other than guild chat.

Probation

: Same thing as a recruit, only an account goes to Probation after a month of inactivity, in which they have a set amount of time to become active again before being removed from the guild.
