Rules
Voting, lynching, and deadline

To vote, bold the words “vote: playername” or use vote tags.
Though not strictly necessary, it is appreciated if you unvote before voting someone else.
It takes the votes of half of the living players, either plus 1 or rounded up, to lynch.
It takes half, rounded up, but not plus 1 to no-lynch.
Once the final vote has been cast, no further unvotes or votes will be counted.
If you have been lynched, you may make one “bah” post the next day, as long as it does not say anything game related. In addition, if you've been lynched, you may continue to talk until I post the lynch scene.
Day deadline will be 2 weeks, with possible exceptions for replacements.
If there is no majority at deadline, there will be no lynch.
Night deadlines will be 72 hours, unless someone is replaced, in which case I will make a 3 day extension.
If you go without posting for 72 hours without providing advance notice of it(I don't check the V/LA thread), I will prod you. You then have 48 hours to respond. If you don't, I will replace you.

Etiquette

This is a game. Be respectful and have fun. Yes, you should play to win, but in my opinion, having fun is more important.
Do not post in small sizes, post in colors that blend in with the forum background, or in any way try to hinder the legibility of your posts.
Do not communicate about this game outside of this thread, unless otherwise stated in your role PM.
Quoting anything other than votecounts or rules from me is not allowed.
Teal
is my color. Using it will be considered impersonating the mod. Don't do it.
If you somehow can, don't edit or delete posts.
If you need to contact me, either PM me, or if it's something like incorrect votecounts, tell me in-thread.

If you break the rules…

Punishment will be decided on severity of offense. For severe infractions, you may get mod-killed, which will end the day if you're town, but not if you're anything else. You may get force-replaced. If the infraction is less severe, you may get a strike. You only get 3 strikes, and then I will force replace you.

Finally, rules are subject to change. I may change things at my discretion, and I will inform you if I do. If I make a mistake, please say so politely.

This game will have 1 Mafia group and 1 Werewolf group.
Sample Role PM wrote:Welcome to Mini ####, XXXX. You are a
Town Citizen.

You have no active abilities but your vote, which you are advised to use wisely.

You win when all threats to the town are dead.
Game is here.

Isnt the whole idea of RVS is to see who decides to stand out first and thus face the wrath of everyone else? Looks like Occult wants the OddballScum title.

I assumed the point of the RVS was to randomly vote until that point when someone started to act scummy.

I thought it would be assumptious and over stepping my bounds to vote for one of these fine Americans, Australians and wherever the hell these other players who haven't posted hail from at this point in the game. I don't have some sort of joke vote and I have no idea what an empking is so I'm not gonna vote for something just because it is, I am not a empking bigot like Jeromus. I also find that the RVS tends to allow someone of the anti-town persuasion lead and easy and blameless bandwagon on a harmless townie who was just trying to do his civic duty. I just don't like to vote without an actual tangible, quotable reason to put my vote down. I am also partially against starting a game without a full roster of confirms, so I vote nobody, absolutely nobody, not until I've got a couple of pages to read and won't be bullied into any such votes.

Plus, I rather like putting myself out there as I am quite the attention whore.

Yes indeed. I like also enjoy breaking RVS as quickly as possible, as the scum routinely act the fool in RVS in order to establish themselves as active when it least counts. So the first one that breaks the norm in RVS is typically scum.

You see that is a bit of a WIFOM, isn't it? In the same way I could just vote conventionally and it could be argued that I'm just trying to blend in. At this point we only have 9 of 13 players posted (most of those only once) and 1 unconfirmed, I see no reason to to randomly vote for someone. I could've posted after kanye and gone "yo, yo, I'mma let you finish but hezlucky, hezlucky is the best bandwagon of all time" and voted him that would've accomplished just as much as my non-vote.

The way I see it, it's quite easy to point at an unconventional post and say that its scummy. I do agree that it is quite an easy wagon for the anti-town forces to latch onto and it being day 1, its also fairly easy to brush it off and fade back into the woodwork.

So if I read you correctly, breaking RVS is good for town but the one who does this is typically scum?

Really, Occult (and others), how often does the RVS lead to legitimate votes and bandwagons that end in the Day 1 lynch? I've read a few games around this site so far (and from my experience in mafia in general) and from what I can tell, very rarely does the first few sets of votes actually go through. To see them as legitimate threats seems a little silly and paranoid; I find it had to believe that anyone should be so threatened by the first stages of the game that they will not vote.

"I just don't like to vote without an actual tangible, quotable reason to put my vote down."

Yeah, but isn't the vote the most powerful tool the town has in both voting off mafia and discerning information about the players?

As I said earlier, I don't like the fact that we don't have a full roster of confirmed players, so in my mind, we are playing a partial game a mafia, hence you only get a partial vote. Thats not to say that I would've randomly voted anyway, but there is your "symbolism".

I don't like the fact that we started already, feels... premature. I'd prefer to have waited a couple more days, had a full roster of players ready to go and then started. Others may disagree, but it is where I stand on it.

Now, yes while its true that the RVS doesn't just automatically lead to a lynch, its just plain useless. I'm not "threatened by them" I really don't like the fact that it is expected to random vote. Yes, it is our most powerful tool, but doing it randomly does not help, does it? You randomly voted for McGriddle, what did you learn from that vote? Nothing. My non-vote has started an actual conversation, I now have responses from IS, darkdude and yourself. I would say I have actually contributed to the game where as you just jumped up, pointed at me and voted for me for saying a prefer to carefully look at the evidence rather then put up some sorta random absurdness? That's just absurd, I'm not going throw my vote around for no reason, especially if not everyone has posted. Would you find it anti-town if someone jumped onto a bandwagon without reasoning?

I like that you at least have a question for me to respond to. I prefer contributions to the game, that have reasoning, not random voting. You must realize that while voting is the town's most powerful tool, is it also a great tool for the mafia to use. Especially with the uninformed and new. Its like a gun is great for protection, but don't shoot everyone who happens to step on your lawn.

In my mind at this point, we have something tangible to talk about, we have an event that we can discuss, we have reactions to look at and we are not even out of the first page, this is what I prefer over multiple pages of randomness. That just lets the anti-town bide their time and stay in the shadows.
Internet Stranger wrote:Yes indeed. I like also enjoy breaking RVS as quickly as possible, as the scum routinely act the fool in RVS in order to establish themselves as active when it least counts. So the first one that breaks the norm in RVS is typically scum.
I am not "acting the fool" I'm putting myself out there and getting responses.
