Welcome to Open 356 - The Trial!
Welcome to the Swedish small village Torsåker.
As you know, we live in frightening times. The year is 1674, and you are seven of the hundreds of people charged with witchcraft. You are all charged for abducting children and bringing them over to the faraway island Blockula, where you've introduced them to Satan himself.
The priest in the village, Laurentius Hornæus,
is known for his brutal methods of investigation. Whipping, bathing children in ice cold water of a hole in the ice during winter, putting suspects in ovens, shoving in fuel and pretending to light the fire and boil said suspects - all of these are investigation methods known to be used by Hornæus. Naturally, all of you want to ensure that you are not going to be suffering, and unlike your unfortunate brethren and sistren, you all know each other since previously, and you know that while at least one, most probably two of you have indeed dabbled with witchcraft, you know that most of you are innocent. You've therefore deviced a cunning plan.
Due to local strains on the economy
, you are all still living in the village, though isolated. You want to get the trial done by yourself to avoid the harsh Hornæus, and you have the means to do so. Close to your village is a lake, where you have decided to take the traditional test to determine if someone has sold their soul to Satan or not - tie someone up and throw them into the lake. If they float up, they've been saved by Satan, and should be executed as swiftly as possible. If they don't float, they're innocent. However, this is a test that could potentially invoke the wrath of God. To make sure that you are on the safe side, you have decided only to try a maximum of one person per day.
May the Lord be on your side.
