Post by jeep »

Status: Game Over Mafia wins

Alive:

  • Sugar, Mafia

Dead
  • Mikegoo replacing Lystrodom, Townie, killed by the mafia day 7
  • Werebear, Doc Oc, lynched by the town
  • cuban smoker, Townie, killed night 6, mafia
  • mathcam, Doctor, died night 5, unknown.
  • MatthewV, Townie, killed night 5, mafia
  • quercitron, townie- killed night 4, mafia
  • Beaudoin, mafia- lynched day 3.
  • Nyarlathotep, mafia- lynched day 2.
  • jadesmar, Laundry Attendant- killed night 2, mafia
  • Medicated Lain, Townie, lynched day 1.
  • The Accountant, cop - killed night 1, mafia

Most of the rules and ettiquette will be familiar, but please scan them anyway.

Rules and etiquette (mostly stolen from DP's games):
  • During the game's nights, everyone who has to do so sends me an E-mail.
  • Please refrain from posting in this thread during the night. You may only post notice of absence, or maybe a "BAH!" during the night.
  • In the "morning" I announce the events of the night. During the daytime you discuss and vote to kill someone. I will announce beforehand how many votes are required for killing. It is my prerogative to set a time limit on the voting; I will announce that at least 24 hours before the limit expires.
  • Under no circumstance are you allowed to show any E-mails from me or others.
  • Please do not discuss this game via Instant messenger, E-mails (unless you are part of a group, and then only when it is night) or IRL....
  • If you are dead, you are dead. Do not post any information afterwards.
  • The moderator (that's me) is always right; you may not like it, but mods put a lot of effort in creating and moderating the game and their decision should be final.
  • The night arrives when I post that it is night. Once a majority is reached, that person gets lynched. You may continue to discuss during twilight (while you walk home) but you may not post at night.
  • I will be using DP's lynch rules. The person with a simple majority gets lynched. If a deadline is set, the person with the most votes will be lynched as long as that person has half the majority.
  • You may vote to not lynch anyone. In doing so, you go home. You MAY NOT post again after voting no lynch unless you are dragged from your house by getting half the majority.

Sorry for the delay, I needed to get some replacements.

As everyone wakes up from their night of slumber, news spreads through the town that The Accountant, beloved cop, has been killed. Since everyone loved The Accountant, a lynch mob forms to try to exact revenge. Somehow, everyone mystically knows that the killers are among them.

The Accountant, cop, was killed by the mafia.

One! Just me.

Oh... wait. I just watched insomnia. Pretty good movie... Any cops that aren't dead want to admit they killed the Accountant? I'll make a deal...

I'm just kidding. Probably 3. Let's get 'em.

Yeah, it means they got lucky... unless they have an investigator of their own (unlikely) and that person picked the cop (more unlikely) and the mafia were told this result before the end of the night (even more unlikely) so that they could kill the cop on purpose.

Mafia got lucky, but it happens. We just have to saddle up and figure this out on our own.

Well, MatthewV... I've only played in one other minigame (another of Jeep's) and I can't even remember how many mafia we were dealing with, because the game ending got lost in the board crash. We also had to worry about a serial killer in that game. But it seems to me that anybody trying to work out the numbers is likely pro-town, yes?

Dang lucky Mafia....

Anyways, I don't have a vote yet, because random votes can get annoying, and nothings happened so far.

jeep's Mini Game history.

Mini 9, in which the Laundry Attendant met an unpleasant end along with the rest of the Town: 3 Mafia, all with odd names.

Mini 14, 2 Mafia, 1 Retired Mafia, 1 Serial Killer, all having abilities, and all with odd names.

This game does not appear to have odd names. A Cop died, and I will say right now I am a Townie, so there is at least one generic Townie. If this makes me a target for the Mafia, (and please note: if I was Mafia, this would be a stupid gambit to try, not knowing the Town's condition and knowing jeep's history,) it will be one more Night that the Mafia doesn't kill a Doc or another helpful role.

Anyway,

Vote: Quercitron

Because he had no reason to say he was a townie, doesn't make much sense. Probably isn't mafia, Querc wouldn't do something like that if he was. But I da know.

Yes, I did. Normally Townies can't prove their innocence. However, in this game the first Townie to claim Townie can. Why? Because the Mafia, knowing only that they are Mafia and jeep's normal schemes, could not take the chance of claiming Townie when there might be no normal Townies. This is a way to make a normal Townie a confirmed innocent, as much as one can be without Cop clearance, etc. If the Mafia attack me at Night they are only killing a Townie, and aren't focusing on possible roles (Doc, etc.)

Well, you could be Maf, pretending to be innocent, or Cop, keepin low profile, or many other things. My vote stays for now, but I don't suspect you much.

FOS quercitron
His logic doesnt seem the best, for it would be easy to claim a role of townie just by seeing that it was a normal cop dead. Also, he openned the door for any mafia to claim the role of townie. I dont really like this...

unvote mathcam
I see now that jeep can make confusing roles...also it was only placed to get
someone to talk
Of course, we have only waited 2 days since the day started...seemed like longer than that.

I believe querictron. You're all munchkins for doubting him. (Of course, I expect querci to look at this post with suspiscion. I wouldn't hope for anything less!)

Anyway, I'm out for a week. Don't lynch me for being quiet.

Woo! I managed to get voted and unvoted between posts. I think I agree with Querciton, though I'm not sure I fully understand the argument. Are you saying that claiming to be a generic townie should convince other generic townies, because only the generic townies know that some generic townies exist? (i.e. the mafia and special roles could conceivably believe that noone is role-less?).

Also, the question still remains...why Jadesmar? In any case, I'm game.

Vote: Jadesmar
, until he says something witty and/or enlightening.

I understand the concept, Quercitron, but it still seems a little forthright. Anyways, 'mostly random vote' time - chosen among the quiet ones.

we do have to lynch, right?

i'll get on the jadesmar bandwagon for now. will unvote at the earliest sign that something else is up. quercitron's laying down on the train track for us does invoke some suspicion, but i tend to think this is just due to desperation at our current situation. if he doesn't get gakked by mafia soon, however, he's bound to get one of my votes in the short to mid-term future.
