Mini Game 27 - DAY 1!

Post Post #0 (ISO) » Sat Mar 01, 2003 5:29 pm

Post by quercitron »

It is a dark, lonely night in DeVito, Italy. A night without stars, without the moon, without even candles in the dark, lonely windows.

As such, the Mafia henchman selected to begin the Town takeover is having a bloody difficult time finding the right house. He has his gun loaded, sure, but it's black, as is his outfit, as are all the houses, gates, and potholes.

The potholes make him feel very dark and lonely, and occasionally rather upset. If the Townsfolk were listening, they'd hear him coming a mile away.

"Blasted useless council-funded roads! I swear, I'm going to kill the Mayor!"

He approaches what he thinks is the Mayor's house and fires three shots through the window; then, after stumbling around, goes back to his own dark, lonely bed. Only to realize that it's somewhat cold, as his window has three bullet-shaped holes in it.

This is DeVito, Italy, Town of Incompetent Mafia and Weird Midnights. It's a Town where people randomly catch leprosy, and the Mayor has the least power of any Townie. It's also a Town where some people don't tend to die very easily, but we'll get to that later, now won't we?

THE RULES FOR MINI GAME 27

• Lynching during the Day will require a simple majority of votes from players. As soon as a majority is reached, the individual with the majority is considered lynched, and will be lynched on my return. I do not use confirm votes. When it is Night I may lock the thread. If I lock the thread, there is (obviously) no talking at Night. If I do not, talking at Night is allowed.
• There is no talking outside the thread at Night or otherwise except for groups to which I have explicitly given this right.
• Vote: no lynch will be registered as a vote for no lynch. If a simple majority of the players vote for no lynch, there will be no lynch and the Day will end.
• No quoting emails or other means of communication from the Moderator. No talking when you're dead.
• If something odd happens, and you're not sure whether it was supposed to or not (read: if you think I've made a mistake,) email me about it first. It may not be a mistake.
• And the number one rule of all games Mafia and otherwise: play for your side to win and to have fun, but DO NOT BE A JERK. Thank you.

IT IS NOW TWILIGHT. I WILL BE SENDING ROLES SOON.

DEATH OF LOCAL PRIEST SHOCKS TOWN

Corsato, the friendly local priest whose abilities included investigation, protection, and self-protection, has been killed. Apparently the self-protection part didn't work out too well. Looks like he's been shot in the stomach area...whoever the killer was, he was pretty short.

MACKAY AND BOBACINO ENGAGED

Mackay and Bobacino have fallen in love! They may not vote for each other today, and may roleplay as much as they want, so long as it doesn't get weird.

WITH ELEVEN ALIVE, SIX TO LYNCH

Yay! Let's get at it!

Hallelujah! The game's starting!

vote: warrior4037
, he's got the longest name...perhaps compensating for his
short stature
? Hmmm...

Or, I could just admit it's a random vote.

P.S. Congratulations Boba & Mackay! Awwwwww.

I am sure that the long delay means that this game is going to rock! right? My vote isn't random at all... I'm going alphabetical style.

Yup, this is going to be a great game...too bad for Corsato, who had to anxiously wait a week and a half to be dead. The first thing I want to say is that roled people should be very careful about relying on any plans. Any information we think we may have should be balanced by the thought that maybe the action performed was done so sub-optimally.

For some reason, I feel like one of the two people in love is mafia, just because that would be funny. Just a probably incorrect gut feeling...so, seeing as Mackay has already posted, I'll

Vote: Bobacino

It's quite possible that the selection of lovers was not random...we have no idea.

Mackay, you little minx, we're in public! Ah, what it is to be in love.

*stares, slack jawed at his beautiful fionce*

And as for you, mathcam, that's hardly the congratulations I would expect on this merry day. Jealous of my sexy wife-to-be, are we?

Seriously, though, what was going on with the priest? If he was told that he could protect himself, but failed, why would he be told that in the first place? Either the ability never existed (a bit of a cruel joke, to be honest) or the person who killed him was able to overcome the protection somehow. Now, as far as the intro tells us, the mafia are incompetent.
This is DeVito, Italy, Town of Incompetent Mafia and Weird Midnights. It's a Town where people randomly catch leprosy, and the Mayor has the least power of any Townie. It's also a Town where some people don't tend to die very easily, but we'll get to that later, now won't we?
So if people don't die very easily and the mafia are incompetent, how could the priest's ability have not functioned? My guess is that the priest used his protection on himself (a prayer) and that he will come back to life. I think the protection of the priest might be to ressurect people... And all that talk of leprosy is ringing biblical bells in my head too.

It's either that, or perhaps the mafia tried to kill someone and failed and something else killed the priest that wasn't mafia like a serial killer or a devil or something like that?

That's an interesting idea...that Corsato might come back to life. Let's not dismiss the possiblity that along with incompetent mafia, we might have incompetent good guys also, so don't bank on your abilities too much. This "short mafia" thing will be important later, I bet.

And as for you, mathcam, that's hardly the congratulations I would expect on this merry day.

My apologies. Some times I just caught up in the furor and lose my manners. Consider it a wedding gift.

Jealous of my sexy wife-to-be, are we?

Ummm....no....of course not....

Hmm...I don't know, but according to quercitron, it didn't:

Quite an ambitious conclusion, Bobacino. You could be right about the priest(s) having the power to resurrect (due to the "uncertain" category on querci's status page)...but Corsato's listed as "dead," and I'd have to guess that one only earns that distinction when one ain't coming back.

I've never played in a ressurect game before, but I thought that the idea in this one would be that we don't know that it can happen yet and Corsato does. He could be sitting there, waiting until tonight to come back to life. Okay, so it's a crack brained theory, but I wanted to get the ball rolling with a hypothesis at the start of the game...

Unvote: Bobacino Vote: Atticus

for the mostly silly reason of Atticus claiming a random vote when it was clearly not (CS wasn't even in the list of players).

Bob? Sweetie? Maybe Corsato the priest didn't use the self-protection ability last night. There were also the investigating and protecting options. Maybe he died nobly protecting someone else. :( Poor thing. Anyway, I'm actually posting this at 4 in the morning and really drunk , so I'll make more sense tomorrow or something.

Ooh, I really like the theory of him dying protecting someone else. That seems awfully priest-like and possibly the one way that someone with self-protection could die. That seems, in my mind, the most likely explanasation so far.
