this is the part where i'd post my scummy but it's not on lost butterfly (I just wanted to mention it tbh )

i don't actually think i look particularly town (but i tend to look more town as scum). i'm having a hard time sinking my teeth into the game. getting scumreads is really hard. i think it's somewhat due to the set-up, town know there are more people playing AGAINST their win con than with it and mostly due to the other factors

Cool, given the amount of room town had to manoeuvre I'd say this was mostly balanced. They had some strong prs but could easily get screwed in terms of mislynches, so yeah.

I didn't scumhunt any differently. The two town mechanic though does create interesting role resolution as well as endgame solutions which did happen in this game.

It definitely felt different as Lawful, there was a strong desire to NOT be killed fmpov, as we were already 3 down when I replaced in. So being a bit more annoying/weird to try and dodge that seemed like a good strategy early on.

I think it is your duty as a player to know your mafia team. I know it is an ADVANTAGE, an unfair advantage which should be frowned upon.

Having actually seen players tactically replace out and other players threaten to do so, and get no heat for it at all. I think the Mastin hate here is a bit much.

'Forgetting your buddies' is just a sub par strategy, don't see why you'd ever need to/want to do that if you had any confidence in your scum game. Not sure why Mastin would try not check his buddies, this game, either.

If someone feels more comfortable by not knowing their scum partners or their alignment right away, then meh...I don't see the big deal. It can hurt just as much as it can help. Where I play, there is a person who routinely doesn't check his role pm until mid day one

To be clear: No one is questioning the usefulness of not reading your role PM/not remembering your mafia partners, but people are questioning the ethics of it.

Yes, it's useful to *you* the individual, I guess. Bad for the game, though. And obviously completely unethical. (the former, can't help people 'forgetting', but I question if that's actually possible if you put any thought into the game)

By very definition, they don't. They drop things we may think are scumtells, so our scumhunting is flawed.

It's not really semantics, it's an important difference. The goal is to detect who is scum and town from the bullshit, you can't do that with someone who's not read their pm.
