come up with 5 people you think potentially deserve a golden fedora. I think that might make it easier for me to think about the award. Because to me it's a lifetime achievement award, and thinking about the types of people that would be up might make it better.
Will Vi nominate Tar? Tune in next week!
I like the most memorable moments thing. probably time to refer it to the SCC.
I don't suggest JUST giving it to them, but I do think they deserve it, and that's just off-hand. I think others deserve it but would probably need more thought/discussion/research first.

Ehhhhno. I feel like doing this would just lessen the "value" of getting a Golden Fedora. If someone does something to earn it, then yes, but let's not just give something out for the sake of giving it out.
Well, I don't mean if no one has earned it...
Saying "I like handing out X every year" implies you want to see one handed out every year to someone, regardless of worth.
Ski mask? Check! Sawed off? Check! Guilty conscience, fear of death? Check! Check! Check!
I don't think you deserve them for being admins. I think you deserve them for dedication to the site.
And you in particular, Mr. Flay, for making really interesting games with new mechanics and not only affecting the site through the administration side (which is very important) but also through the mafia side.
Agar, I think there are enough people who deserve it that we wouldn't run out.
I think that the Golden Fedora is only for someone who has been at a level of service that is essentially unimaginable. I can see Flay getting it, maaaaybe. No one else jumps out as deserving of something quite so prestigious.
Tired of being rejected by biased, self-serving judges?
Then
STOP
writing that self nomination, because we have just what you need!
Introducing...
THE GREEN FEDORA
is coming to a Red Carpet Ceremony near you!
Rewarding terrible play, "shitposting," and flagrant rule violations, this new award is for those who couldn't otherwise make the cut!
It's so close to awesome, you can't even tell it's spray painted!
The above is not an automated advertisement, nor is it endorsed by the Scummies Steering Committee. All models are above the age of 18. Some restrictions may apply.

I appreciate your confidence, but my Mafia stuff can be nominated for any number of 'regular' awards. Fedora "stuff" by its very nature tends to be outside the purview of the usual... and in my opinion, the codework of Kison and chamber is the only thing that qualifies of late. It took me an embarassingly long time to step up to what needed done in mith's absence, and almost all of the features recently are theirs. I'm by nature slightly more visible, but...

I don't necessarily think we deserve one, certainly not just for being admins.
BUT to be fair, people who aren't admins tend to get the "Name should be in
Orange
Lights" award nominations. It's kind of a tautology...
Absolutely. I don't necessarily have a problem with giving admins awards, though I think that tends to make the judges jobs interesting if you allow it for essentially being an admin. But I guess I had a knee-jerk reaction to any award that's set up primarily to be given to three people. I know Amrun obviously didn't mean just those people, but if the three suggested possibilities are all admins, my pattern recognition gland goes beep beep beep.
And if it IS something we only want to give to admins, why not just have an "admin service" medal that's put under each admin's names with a star for each year of completed service.
MeMe, for what it's worth, got hers as a sort of retirement thing.
jeep got it because he WAS the entire code team for many, many years.
OTOH, I think with the broadening of Team Skittles it's very possible for non-admins to get it (unless you're counting any username color/role as "admin", in which case... yeah)

tl;dr: I agree with you.
haha, I get it: Skittles, because they're chewy and fruit-flavoured
Anywho, Golden Fedora: Retirement present / lifetime achievement award seems fitting to me. Like, I can think of a couple non-admins who might be considered for one a couple years down the line if they keep going like they have been, so it's not like it will only go to admins (IMO). However, I do think that your typical Golden Fedora person maybe will have been a listmod or something similar at some point, just because the type of person who's going to contribute enough and be respected enough to get a Golden Fedora is going to be the same type of person who volunteers to do important jobs on-site anyway.

The codework of Kison is why I mentioned him. You contribute - don't downplay yourself. You contribute in a different way than Kison.
I also thought of chamber. He was in mind when I said people I'd need to research, etc.

Well that was sort of the idea, you know, like. We start with the obvious people who deserve it, and that will take up several years, and by the time people like you would be up, it would be several years down the line.
