(stolen and modified in the night from VasudeVa)

Please read over the rules carefully. I've
bolded
things that may be specific to this game for skimmers' convenience.


On Gameplay


  • 1. I have the final say in any form of dispute.
    2. Although I am a handsome moderator, I am not infallible. Feel free to point out any mistake by PMing me or by a bolded message in thread.
    3. The moderator likes
    Pansy Purple (#8800BF)
    for important things. Don't use that colour. This is a modkillable offense.
    4. All game-related communication between the mod and players STAY between the mod and the players. Breaking this rule results in copious modkills.
    5. All game-related communication between players STAY in the thread
    unless explicitly stated otherwise
    . Talking about the game outside of the thread without the mod's approval is a modkillable offense.
    6. Falsifying the mod is a modkillable offense. I am the judge of whether I have been falsified or not.
    7. Small or invisible text as a secret communication is disallowed.
    Cryptography is also disallowed.

    8. Loopholes are bad and dick-ish. Modkills may ensue.
    9. Modkills revert the player's role into a Neutral Survivor. The player then dies a painful death, losing the game for themselves and embarrassing their family.


On Voting, Activity and Deadlines


  • 1. Please aim to post at least once a day. (The more the merrier!)
    2. V/LAs are to be announced in thread and bolded.
    3. Players who don't post in
    48 hours
    will be prodded. Players have 24 hours to respond to a prod or they will be force replaced. Players may request prods on a specific player via a bolded message in thread.
    4. A 'three strikes and you're out' rule on prods and replacement is enforced. That is, three prods and you're force replaced.
    5. This game has
    two week deadlines
    for D1 and
    one week
    deadlines thereafter. Keep in mind that your mod is a very busy (and very handsome) man, so I may be a little flexible on this to allow myself time to sleep. There will be deadline countdowns to help enforce timely conduct.
    6. Votes/Unvotes may be done either by bolding your Votes or using Vote tags. If you don't use tags, colons (:) make my life a lot easier. Usernames may be shortened but it has to be easily discernible. Example: VOTE: AV (although I don't know WHY you'd ever want to vote AV)
    7. Unvotes are nice but not required.
    8. Lynches need a majority (half the number of living players +1) to go through
    unless explicitly stated otherwise
    .
    9. A No lynch needs 50% of the votes.
    10. A No Lynch will happen at deadline without a full lynch majority.
    11. Once you're dead, please don't post
    unless explicitly allowed by the mod
    .
    I will allow one Bah! style post
    , so long as it contains no game related information.
    12. The Lynched may speak during Twilight (ie. before the mod posts the death scene).
    13. Play to win!


Clarity Rules

This is a subset of rules for theme games that moderators can add on to their normal rules. It was designed to help minimize swing in theme games and reduce some of the vagaries of moderator preference/implementation. The idea is to give players a baseline set of information so they can focus on the mechanics of the theme without having to worry about extraneous factors that can over-complicate games.


  • 1. This is a 8p micro semi-open theme.
    2. There are no third parties, cults or jesters.
    3. The setup is 6:2
    4. This is an
    alignment reveal
    game. Players will flip with their alignment, but there will be no further information on what actions they took.

What do you all think of discussing optimal night action strategies? Town could really dominate this game through using creative night actions, and planning can help to give us the best edge, at the expense of letting mafia on to what types of actions we're going to use.

We could keep it completely discreet, but that could leave us open to some confusion, duplicated actions, and easier fake claims from mafias end.

@ Eido, broadcasting night actions is generally a bad idea. Even if we do, I'd suggest not going into too much detail. For instance, if town annouces that the cop will investigate someone, mafia can then frame that person to make them look guilty.

@ Rc: well i know broadcasting specific night actions is a bad idea, but that's not what i said. i said planning what night actions would be optimal in this setup.

@ Klick: it's even numbers, so town benefits with a no lynch at some point, but why now instead of later (before mylo)? We don't know if mafia could end up killing two people, or someone gets trigger happy and thinks they found scum and decides to kill someone. (which, btw, i think it's a bad idea to vig night 1 in this setup, hence why i think talking about possible night actions is beneficial for us.) and no lynching on day 1 doesn't give us much info to work with going into night and the next day.

If I wasn't on my phone, I would be all over the wiki investigating what roles would be the best to use night 1, I'll say this now, if you don't have an idea by the end of the day, cop investigate someone since that'll give us all the best results.

Eidolon - Post 3 with the guidelines on what can happen at night says no mafia faction kill, though that means with 2 mafia they can both choose vig and kill off two townies at night :/ I say we make a doc train. I'll go into detail of that plan later, but that'll force nightmares to either out themselves or follow along and get no night kill.

Regarding planning out night actions and a doc train:

I think that the idea of planning night actions has merit and is worth exploring, but I think a straight-up doc train would be too easy for scum to exploit.

Example: Consider 6 players named A, B, C, D, E and F. Players C and E are scum, and everyone agrees that they will do a doc train in alphabetical order, so A protects B, B protects C, and so on. Since there's no confirmation that you were indeed protected, it could work like this:

  • C shoots A
  • E roleblocks F
  • F's protection on A fails; C's kill goes through as planned
  • Scum has now framed F for the kill and there's no way to determine who the real scum are. They content themselves with 1 nightkill and a strong probability of mislynch the following day.


I think maybe it would be better to do a Tracker/Watcher train instead. Discuss.

Piggy, going all docs is the wrong way to use the setup, i think. sure mafia would get no kills, but we'd have no way to find scum in the night. maybe we pick between a balance of protective and investigative roles. say... half protective/ half investigative.

Mitilos, thoughts on optimal night action strategy? Thoughts on klick's no lynch idea?
