A couple of reasons why:
1) It allows our D1 lynch to be much better than informed than what the status quo would normally allow for.
2) Scum are locked into decisions early on in the game, making them less flexible in decision making. They're put on blast early, forcing them to commit.
3) It opens scum up to being counter-claimed, creating a worst case scenario of 1 for 1 - definitely worth it.
4) It opens up space for town power role synergy.
Without a mass claim, there is a chance of town power roles interfering with their respective powers. Also, the reason mass claim works especially well here is that there are no scum power roles. It hardly makes it any more difficult to normally scum hunt when we lose a power role.
The only con in this play is that scum get all the power roles; competent scum know how to VT-hunt/power-role hunt anyway. Looking through a cost-benefit ratio, we could break this game down fairly easily with mass claim.
I have a decent amount of games under my belt, but I'm nothing special - not a veteran, not a newbie.
There was talk of cookies. Let's go see which cats have their sneaky paws or paw in the cookie jar..
