RULES (inspired by the rule sets of Faraday, Maestro, and Nexus):

General Behavioral Expectations:
• All site-wide rules are to be followed. They can be found here. Rules here are also in effect. Important points are:
o Personal attacks on any basis are prohibited. Excessive vulgarity will also be stomped upon. When in doubt, err on the side of being civil and respectful.
o Play to your win condition.

Game Play, Voting, Lynching, and Night Actions:
• Do not quote mod communications anywhere in the thread.
This is my bolded color
so do not use it for any purposes, particularly impersonating me.
• When placing a vote, it is not necessary to unvote first or to put your vote on a new line. However, it would be appreciated if you submitted votes in bold like this:
VOTE: penguin_alien
or like this: VOTE: penguin_alien. I will accept votes so long as I can tell the intended target from the abbreviation used.
• Lynches (or decisions to no-lynch) require a majority of votes.
• Discussion may continue in twilight.
• Once you are killed, do not post in the game thread. This includes ‘Bah!’ posts.
• Night actions may be PMed to me or posted in bold in the appropriate QTs. If you know you will be V/LA during the night phase, you may send in a conditional night action in advance.

Activity Parameters and Mod Communication:
• Prods will be sent out by PM to players who have not posted within the past 48 hours. Players receiving prods have 36 hours to post before I will start looking for a replacement. If the day ends before you can respond in-thread, you must PM me within the allotted time.
• Three prods in one game day phase or four prods overall will result in my replacing you.
• Day phases will last two weeks. Night phases will last two days.
• While you are welcome to post about any issues that arise in the thread (use bold to get my attention, please) you may also PM me concerning any problems. Use your best judgment here, and I will endeavor to do the same. This also applies to issues with me/my modding or other players.
• If you go on V/LA, please PM me.
• Alterations to these rules will be announced in-thread and PMed to all players in the event they become necessary either due to unforeseen circumstances or my own oversights.

Opening Flavor:

Having survived a detour to Station 219, the Confederation spaceship
Good Fortune
has been sent out with a new crew to explore--what's that? What happened to the old crew? Well, they were heroes, don't you know? At least the ones who didn't turn out to be aliens, or saboteurs, or holding onto irrational grudges...and the ones who didn't meet with mysterious accidents on board...

I digress. I'm sure this mission will proceed quite smoothly. After all, we're quite sure there aren't any Mafia saboteurs on this crew, or more of those pesky Aliens, or anomalous Lynchers and Pseudojesters, or even treacherous Goo lurking about.

All they have to do is explore Planet MC-271 and bring back samples for further testing. What kind of samples? Eh, not sure. I leave that to the scientists. Captain penguin_alien has assembled a crack team to head down to the planet's surface. Yes, we let her keep the ship. After everything that happened at Station 219 no one else wanted--I mean, no one else deserved the captaincy of that ship quite so much.

Flavor:

As you fasten your seat belt on board the shuttle, you wonder at the fact that Captain penguin_alien actually came down to the shuttlebay to see the team off in person. Sure, this is the first mission since that ill-fated trip to Station 219, but most of the rumors about what happened there were obviously exaggerations. They say only two of the team made it back alive--it's not like it could have been a nine-member team or anything. And who ever heard of one group of people unlucky enough to find aliens and Mafia both infiltrating their group?

So as the shuttle heads down to the planet's surface, you review your mission objective again: obtain the samples your department head requested and get back in one piece. Although why he felt the need to include the second half of that...

The shuttle lurches to the side, and the other passengers gasp with you. Out the viewport, you can see a streak of light forming a portal of some sort! As you pass by, you see yourself and the others on the mission reflected in an identical shuttle. But the doppelgangers aren't quite right--it would seem you're seeing what might have been:

VOTE: Lucky2U that is one of the best mafia roles.... what would be picked over that?

And yeah, i discarded cop. My other option was better after considering some things. Was actually a tough choice.

I can understand Venrob discarding cop - flat out better roles aside there's a lot of roles that would be slightly less useful in a proactive kind of way but more passively effective and reliable with it. Squirrel Girl discarding red goo set off a couple of alarm bells for me at first, but its a bit of a weird role with only one kill and a pretty low chance of team-members, so I reckon there are plenty of more familiar or reliable town roles that would be preferable. 1S commuter could be useful, but I'd discard it if offered anything neither oneshot nor negative utility.

Discarding Ascetic Mafia Goon for a town role seems pretty unlikely compared to all the other discards to me, though I'm not comfortable putting Lucky2u at L - 2 on page 1 before he's even posted.

The point I'm making is that although I initially thought Red Goo was a suspicious thing to discard, I changed my mind after more careful thought. I was mostly just thinking outloud about which roles looked fishy to discard and which probably weren't.
