Mini 411: Futuristic Mafia -- Over with Tainted Outcome

Post Post #0 (ISO) » Mon Feb 19, 2007 3:16 pm

Futuristic Mafia

It is the year 2387 and, not surprisingly, futuristic crimes plague the future earth. Futuristic crimes are especially out-of-control in the futuristic suburbs of Future California. Everyday, futuristic news bulletins flash with futuristic news about terrible futuristic murders and futuristic thefts committed by futuristic crime syndicates with the most high-tech and futuristic tools and weapons on the futuristic market. Even worse is that futuristic video games are the sole obsessions of the futuristic suburbs’ futuristic citizens. Futuristic law enforcement officers are inadequate for keeping the peace, while futuristic city-dwellers care little about the futuristic politics. Something futuristic has to be done.

As the only 12 individuals in the entire future state of Future California that care about their fates in this strange futuristic world, you decide to form a futuristic militia to bring peace to your small parcel of Future California. Good luck.

- Whenever the thread is locked, it is night. This is when you use your abilities. If your role allows it, you may PM other players during this time.
- Do not edit posts, type invisible text, or use tags to such as [text=black] to hide or code information.
- Do not quote PMs made by me or any player.
- Do not discuss the game outside with players outside the game
- If you will be away for more than a few days, please be sure to post it in the thread. If you need a replacement, don’t hesitate to ask
- I am the all, knowing all powerful Mod. Anything I say goes. If you have a question, by all means ask. I know who scum is, but I’m not going to tell you because I think death is funny.

This is a basic set-up; 3 scum, 1 cop, 1 doc, 7 townies. Here are copies of the role PMs:
You are the Futuristic Mafia

You, along with buddies ________ and _______ must foil the Futuristic militia’s attempts to bring order to Future California. Each night you may correspond with your fellow members (no one else) and send me the name of one individual you will collectively attempt to whack. You win when mafia members comprise at least 50% of the players left.
You are a Futuristic Townie

Although you have no night ability, you have the right to vote. Armed with your wit and your voice, you must bring the Mafia to justice. You win when all the Mafia members are gone.
You are the Futuristic Doctor

Since the world is consumed by chaos, no medical breakthroughs have been made in nearly 300 years; you’re just a regular doctor. Every night you may send me the name of one player. That player will be immune from killing that night. You win when all the Mafia members are gone.
You are the Futuristic Cop

Apart from being a townsperson, you have the ability to track and investigate the person of your choice each night. By sending me the name of one of the players at night, you will be told their alignment. You win when all the Mafia members are gone.

I will be on a trip from Wednesday evening until Sunday evening. Hopefully the final confirmation will come in soon so I can kick off the game before I leave. I'll probably find a computer while on my trip, but I'll also look for a back-up mod like I should have in the first place. I apologize in advance if this holds up the game.

EDIT: mikeburnfire has volunteered to start the game if the final confirm comes after I'm gone.

The members of the new-formed militia arose in the morning, grabbed their futuristic pitchforks, set forth from their futuristic slums, and congregated in the local futuristic park as had been planned. The sky was gray and foreboding. The otherwise gentle flecks of rain stung due to the winter chill, and, likewise, the normally welcome breeze burned the cold soldiers; but the most ominous feature about the futuristic park was the dark blaze marks in the grass.

“They’re letters!” someone exclaimed.

Give up!

…was burned into the grass.

The individual continued, “Damn! We’ve been compromised; but who could’ve known,”
“Well obviously it must have been one of us,” said another. “He could have just as easily killed us in our sleep. What an idiot. He shouldn’t be hard to find. Let’s get ‘im….”

It is Day 1. With 12 alive, its 7 to lynch.

Hi everyone.

As we started with day, probably in order to give the town an advantage, I don't see many option to start a meaningful discussion.
I think that our best bet will be to put some pressure on someone and see how it goes from there.

I am not going to place a vote until I get some reactions to the idea from other players.

Mojo, I must say I like that idea, but how are you going to do it? I mean, on what base are you going to put pressure under someone? I don't think it will really work, though it won't probably hurt to try either.

Or... have you already started putting pressure on someone? :)

It's the whole purpose of random voting and bandwagons at the beginning of the game - surely you'd know this since you've been playing for a long time?

A town would never say who could be a cop so early in the game. It's just asking for that person to get NKed.
