Mini 90 - Game Ended

Post Post #0 (ISO) » Mon Feb 09, 2004 3:31 am

Fear ripped through the town when the news hit: a quantity of explosives have disappeared from the local demolition plant. Further, a note appeared tacked to the Town Hall door. At first reading, it seemed the writer was threatening the entire town with explosions. After a quick reread, though, it became clear the writer only wanted to get rid of the council.

"Of course," a townsmen. "That's the best way for the mafia to take over the town. At least I'm safe. Sucks to be the council, though."

The rest of the town agreed with this reasoning and put the matter out of their minds. The council, however, were panicked, until one strong voice rang out.

"We can survive this. After reading this note, it seems clear the mafia are part of the council. Thus, all we have to do is get rid of one of us each day. By vote. Sooner or later, the mafia will be out of the council."

The rest of the council was taken aback. Get rid of? Does that mean kill? After a little murmering, they realized this was a good enough solution. They decided to start the next day, and returned home for a good night's rest.

Rules:
  • Days will last as long as they need to. If discussion lags, I will impose a deadline. If discussion picks up, the deadline will be rescinded.
Votes must be in bold, and full usernames must be used. If you do not do so, your vote may not be counted.
Once a player has reached the necessary majority to lynch, the day is over. Unvoting them will not save their life.
No lynches are allowed, they require the same votes as a lynch.
The game is not to be discussed outside of the thread at all, unless your role allows it.
Once your death scene has been posted, you’re dead. Please, no posting ideas or theories
Don’t edit/delete previously submitted posts. No matter what stupid thing you've done. Post again and correct it.
If a role doesn't send in a choice, that role will not target anyone.
If you're going to be gone any amount of time, let everyone know out of courtesy.
Do not quote PMs from the mod
Please point out any mistakes, if I make them. Otherwise, the mod is god.

The town wakes up, wondering what will happen. Many of the townsfolk are hoping the mafia really are just limiting themselves to the council, but fearing otherwise.

The council, for thier grim part, gather in the town hall. They straggle in, one by one. Soon, it becomes clear Stupid_ isn't coming. Fearing what may be holding him up, they decide to check his house.

Upon arriving, they find many of the town records scattered around the study. No one can make much sense of them. More exploration finds Stupid_ face down on his bedroom floor with a bullet lodged in the back of his head. It looks like the mafia have more tricks up their sleeves than explosives.

Stupid_
, the
Town Historian
is dead.

It's now Day 1. 11 alive, and 6 to lynch.

vote Macros
becasue he happens to have the seat next to me in the council chamber (at least in the mods list anyway) and I want to stretch out my legs a bit more. And yes, this is his second vote, but there is plenty of time to recind if needed.

Maybe if we took a closer look at the Town Historian's papers we might have understood what role he played on the council??????

Town historian? Hrm. A townie with flavour or something else? Records might have been useful for something.

I know that Coolbot played a cop-like role like that in the Newer York mini (Town researcher or something). So could possibly have been an info role.

vote: Quailman
- to give Macros some company up there on 2 votes

Well
Random Vote Morpheus

Mlaker, I was just being pedantic :)

OK so now, I think we have all voted once ... now what (looks around quiet chamber) ... with "11 alive, and 6 to lynch" I assume we do want to lynch today ... ummm but how to encourage action...maybe if I try "
vote count please
"

No, you were making a valid observation. If it was a random vote, then it wasn't for bad spelling. If it was for bad spelling, then it wasn't a random vote. OTOH, bad spelling is as good a reason as any at this stage in the game. Not enough to change my vote, though.

Well I think you can have a random vote for bad spelling, but if you want to be pedantic you would call it a random reasoned vote... :)
Some people think that a random vote has to be completely random with no reason whatsoever... but I think (even though a few people do use random.org to choose their votee) most early day one votes have some reason attached to them, but the vote is labelled 'random' because the reason is something un-mafia-related, or only weakly mafia-related. Eg. he posted first, he's first on the list, he killed me last game, he's new, he smells funny, etc etc. These all come under the category of 'random' for me.
Well that's my thoughts on the subject anyway :)

I agree with Talitha. If I wanted to vote Talitha for tricking me in Norinel's mini (Argh!), I would label it a random vote, even if I put the revenge motice in my post.

With that being said, I almost never make random votes, even on Day One. This game is no exeption.

I can't remember who it was that I first read suggesting calling "random" votes on day 1 "clueless" votes, but it rings truer for me.
