2014 NFL 3 Strikes Challenge

Pretty much the standard Eliminator challenge, but you get additional lives. Sorry about the short notice!

RULES

The objective of the challenge is to correctly select a "Winning Pick" for one NFL game each week.

Each week, you must select one team which you believe will be the winner of that game. If you are correct, you stay alive. However, if your pick for that week loses its game, or you fail to make a pick for a given week, you earn a Strike. If you earn three Strikes, you are eliminated. Once you pick a team, you can't use that team the rest of the season.

The last remaining person wins. If more than one person is left standing after Week 17, the following tiebreaker is used:

1. The person who has the least amount of Strikes
2. The person who has the longest streak of correct picks
3. The person whose Winning Picks have the largest aggregate total score difference over the course of the season.

For example:

The aggregate total would be 31+21+3 = 55 points.

Week 1: Win 45-14 (31pts)
Week 2: Win 31-10 (21)
Week 3: Win 17-14 (3)

Lock-time

All selections will lock at the scheduled kick-off of each game. Players must make sure their picks are submitted by the scheduled locktime each week. You will not be able to make selections for games that have already locked. Selections submitted after the deadline are considered invalid, and will not be counted as Winning Picks. Entrants who submit selections after the lock time and do not submit another entry for the week will earn a Strike.

Tie Games

In the event a game should end in a tie after overtime, players that had selected teams in the game as their picks for that week will neither be recorded with a Winning Pick or a Strike.

Joining in late

Players have until Week 3 to join.
If you join in Week 2, you start the game with one Strike. If you join in Week 3, you start the game with two Strikes.

I'm going to start off easy and pick the
Eagles
over the Jags.

can we repick teams, cause usually we play with restrictions on picking a team more than once

Nope, you can only pick a team once and that's it.

Err, Aronis' emoticon had me go look at NFL.com, let me change to
Oakland
instead. I didn't realize Derek Carr would be starting for them. I also don't really follow NFL as much since I like NCAA better. But now that the BCS rankings are gone I'm not as interested in that either.

I've thought of one additional tie breaker that'll be used in case it happens:

1. The person who has the least amount of Strikes
2. The person who has the longest streak of correct picks

3. The person whose Winning Picks have the largest aggregate total score difference over the course of the season.

Hopefully this will allow more players to stay in the game longer, and motivate them to go undefeated the rest of the way after an incorrect pick.

Jets

Oakland is 2-14 in their last 16 road games in EST time zone. Carr might make it a respectable game, but betting against Oakland in EST is always the right move.

Oakland is actually 2-14 in their last 16 road games
anywhere.

I'm buying the Derek Carr hype tho, I picked the raiders in my pick'em.
