Official Vote Count 1.01 Prime numbers and ulam spirals
Prime numbers are icky because most of them are odd numbers but they have some cool properties and they’re important for a lot of things, including information security. Most computer generated pseudo-random numbers rely on very large prime numbers to work, and many aspects of our daily lives would not be possible without prime numbers.

This vote count is dedicated to one of the coolest things about prime numbers: Ulam Spirals. To get an Ulam spiral, you do what a bored mathematician named Ulam did one day while he was sitting in some boring mathematics lecture at some conference and you write out the numbers on a bit of graph paper in a spiral, starting with 1 and continuing until you get bored of writing out numbers. Then you colour in the prime numbers and you get something that looks a lot like my avatar!

Instead of random noise, like you would expect if the prime numbers were randomly distributed, you get all these lines and patterns cropping up! I think this means that there is some correlation between the prime numbers and the perfect squares, which are much nicer numbers than the primes if I do say so myself. I will have a lot to say about perfect squares later on.

Ulam spiral with 40,000 numbers:

Random noise:

The fantastic thing is that you don’t have to start at 1 to get an interesting pattern. You can start at 0 or 41 or 100 or any other number you like!

Seems apt given his relation to the other players in the game. Decidedly null.

Basically I expect this game to be very very clique based.

I'm going to disagree and say that it's a scummy entrance and sets the bar pretty low in terms of what we can expect from him in this game.

It's scummy because he is purposefully setting low expectations - which means he won't be contributing much, which means it's harder to catch him if he's scum.

He is by far and away the scummiest player in this game so far and deserves some votes.

DRK poked me?

eeeehhh

could be construed that way

not very hard though

maybe 'moderately firm tap' would better describe it?
