Chile - The Angels of Light - Oh Gira. This reminds me I need to listen to more Swans. Yep, this is my kind of music. Thought this was his folk project and never looked into it. Must fix that - 9

Republic of Kugelmugel - Mick Jenkins - Love this. Totally worth the hype - 8.5

New Zealand - Pusha T - I like this. Really dig the use of samples - 8

Ukraine - The Heavy - Very cinematic. Is that a Morricone sample? This has to be on some soundtrack for sure. Works pretty well as a standalone track too - 7.5

Western Sahara - Larry Gus - Soundcloud sucks. No way to buffer before playing so it took me over half an hour to listen to this 5 minute track. Hard to judge based on such a shitty listening experience, but this sounded like something that deserves points. So maybe I'll just give it low points, unless I can get it to work later.

Spain - Same as WS except I like the bits I'm hearing more here. So higher low points maybe? Ooh this part about halfway in is rather nice. Reminds me a little of Bardo Pond. Definitely want to try and listen to this properly. Might just be high high points worthy.

Laos - Black Box Recorder - Interesting - 7

St. Lucia - Panda Bear - Hmm new Panda Bear. I loved Person Pitch but didn't care for the follow up at all. This isn't so bad. Reminds me of middle era Animal Collective. What's with the sudden drop in volume? Doesn't make me want to rush to get the album, not even close to Person Pitch, but better than a lot of the boring stuff this contest - 6.5

Comoros - Colour Revolt - Heavier parts aren't too bad - 6.5

Isle of Man - Meshell Ndegeocello - Some of the individual instrumental elements are interesting but they don't come together as a whole. The lame lyrics don't help either - 6

Burkina Faso - Zola Jesus - It's ok. Wouldn't be surprised if it was used in some commercial or the other. Perfect for that but as a standalone piece, meh - 5.5

Columbia - Meg Myers - Wasn't as bad as I was afraid it would be - 5.5

Mali - Spoon - Meh it's ok. Nothing special - 6

Serbia - Eric Herman - Kids music? I'm not 4 so I think I'll pass.

Central African Republic - The Specials - Eh pretty easy listening - 5

Italy - The Uncluded - A little too precious for my taste. Very samey throughout. Wanted to break the xylophone(?) by the end - 5

Switzerland - Monarch - Start was promising but vocals came in and it became rather generic. Not bad, but nothing special. Actually quite annoying on second listen - 5.5

Slovenia - AFI - Sounds like any of thousands of similar songs. Yawn - 4.5

Philippines - Fiona Apple - Not really my thing - 5

Chad - Victim Effect - Not holding my attention. Sounds too all over the place. And it's going on and on as well. Tried listening again and couldn't - 5

Going to hold off on voting until I can listen to this two soundcloud entries properly. If I can do so before the deadline, that is.

Overall, I thought this was a pretty good contest. Not much that I outright hated, but more importantly, the good was really good this time. I think I will have a pretty solid top 10 for once and not have to scrape the barrel.
