Huh, I missed that post for some reason. It's the same. I wasn't aware that soundcloud doesn't work with spotty internet connections. Doesn't a muted play-through buffer the entire song?- ChannelDelibird

You'd think it would, but no such luck.
Anyway, I voted. My top 5 are the first discoveries I've made in this contest in a long time. Thanks to Chile, Kugelmugel, NZ, Spain and Western Sahara.- fferyllt

All the songs are in order, but there's a randomize button in the playlist window once you start playing it that will automatically shuffle them for you.
Thanks for doing this. I enjoyed listening to all the songs non-critically a few times via your playlist. Listening and trying to rank songs takes some of the enjoyment out of it.- Tammy

Mina's half-assed thoughts while relistening to these with shitty barely working earbuds in a loud coffee shop, while rushing madly to beat quadz:
-Burkina Faso: Well, I remember liking it back when I could hear it, particularly the intro!
-Serbia: Ehhh, it's mildly pleasant children's music.
-Central African Republic: Pretty good--kind of one-note, though.
-Italy: Why didn't you submit this song instead? Pretty cool and quirky, though, although the vocals jarred me at first.
-Switzerland: I groaned when the emo-style vocals came in, but this is pretty decent. Nothing special, although the music video is great.
-Comoros: This is normally not my style of music, but a cut above most of the genre. I like how it evolves throughout the song and has actual emotion at parts.
-New Zealand: This appealed to me despite myself, even though I'm generally more susceptible to the "white person pandering" kind of rap (as Reck put it). Cool and unique and fun.
-Slovenia: My sister used to be a huge AFI fan. All right, and I love the passion of their clean vocals in the chorus, but I prefer their non-screamy stuff (the screaming detracts from the chorus to me, and makes it feel a bit generic and scenester-ish).
-Philippines: Pretty. It feels like it's missing something (maybe it's the sort of unfocused melody that doesn't have much of a build).
-Chad: Like Comoros, not really my style of music, but unlike Comoros, there's nothing that makes it stand out to me. His vocals are pretty, at least.
-Laos: On paper, this seems like something that SHOULD be terrible, pretentious, indie intellectual masturbatory fodder (to the point I almost wonder if Knight of Cydonia has returned from retirement to troll the contest)...but oddly, itworksfor me. The story is compelling, the chorus is powerful, and I like the overall feel.
-Columbia: Pretty-ish. Okay.
-Mali: This is pretty cool, and stands out more upon a second listen. I didn't even notice that the playlist changed from Columbia to Mali, though. Occupies a similar space in my mind as CAR, although it suffers from being dead in the middle.
-India: I liked this a lot more upon a second listen, but that might be because I have more trouble hearing it and so the harshness doesn't bug me as much! I actually like the vocals more than the instrumentation, for some odd reason.
-USA: This is awful and amazing at the same time. It's just so infectious. And the video is...special.
-Republic of Kugelmugel: Doesn't quite live up to the hype for me (probably because I still haven't heard it with decent headphones, so all the details of the production are lost on me), but still really cool.
-Isle of Man: I love this. A bit messy and heavy-handed, but it sticks with me. I love the synths.
-St. Lucia: I've heard only one other song by Panda Bear, but he's great. I'm a sucker for layered vocals. My only gripe is that the song is a bit repetitive.
-Sri Lanka: This is basically the token Quilford song (which isn't a bad thing). I like the "ahahahahahahs". Cute and has a nice vibe, but forgettable.
-Netherlands: Nah.
-Ukraine: Pretty good, although.
-Greece: His voice is just slightly off-pitch, and it bugs me. The tone is nice, though, and I like the eighties vibe.
-Russia: Kind of like Greece but more boring.
gtg, will relisten to Spain and Western Sahara at home.- Mina

*panics*
-Spain: Most of this is great, although the weird electronic part early on was a bit too, um, much for me.
-Western Sahara: The vocals are a bit idiosyncratic, but the rest is really good...wtf is the brass cacophony? IthinkI like it? Whoa, the last minute is amazing.
A lot that was pretty good, not much that outright stood out for me.- Mina
