For me, the main point of the setup was that the game I was a bodyguard in sucked but all I had to do to stop playing was correctly guess the night kill, and I did, and I was nightkilled, and then I could move on to the fun part of cheering people on from the dead thread.

Sometimes you have a really great game and you want to stay alive and keep convincing everybody that you're right; then you don't protect.

Sometimes you have a game where you're enjoying it but your reads are a bit off but you think X is doing well. So you protect X and if they're scum then you get to keep playing, but if they're the nightkill target, better you died than them.

Sometimes a game is just no fun at all and you just want to die or replace out but you've never replaced out of a game before and you hate doing it and the knowledge that you just have to figure out who the nightkill target is going to be and then you can stop playing is enough to sustain you.


I'd like to preserve that so that a person who wants to be killed still has a reasonable chance of being killed. But I want it to be more fair to the scumteam, too. The scumgames that I've lost were almost all lost at least partially due to fucking up the nightkill one way or another and the way it is now guarantees that the nightkill isn't going to land where scum wants it.

pedit: I like that. They could submit the entire playerlist in order of who they want to die the most. The first name is their target, and then if multiple people protect I use the order the scumteam submits instead of random order. I agree that making bodyguarding compulsory would help because then even the obvtowns have to protect each other.

idk I loved the way the setup felt and I think if anything the best thing to do would be to take away a mislynch from town.

NS, how are you on that idea?

Do you think that would be more fair, so that instead of having to have one scum be in the top 2 or two scum be in the top 4 towniest players it just requires one scum to be in the top 4 or two to be in the top 6.

This was definitely my favourite game of the year besides maybe 167.

Making it compulsive would work too.

Compulsive+scum can pick who dies if multiple target the same person is even better.

Plotty, I wouldn't flex it too far, go for one iteration change and see how it goes :) You did have several town bloc sided players rolling town and this setup plays to that strength.
